I Want An Inactive Gamertag

Hi my gamertag is and I really like short gamertags so ive been looking and I see these 3 letter gamertags that I like but their already occupied by an account, I wouldn’t have a problem if the gamertag was taken by someone active but the gamertag
is taken by an inactive account. And then I look for some other gamertags and it says the gamertag isn’t available and I don’t understand understand why. So if Xbox can help I would appreciate it thank you.

These are the gamertags I would like you to send free : Sen, Jin, Zul, Sy, Jiren, Triste, Koj, And SouI (its a capital i at the end).

Free up a inactive gamertag.

I was wondering if you guys could free up the gamertag e since it's a silver member and has been inactive for awhile. I want to change my gamertag to e but it's taken by a inactive user.

after 7 years do the gamertags become avalible because trhe gamertag i want has been inactive for 8 years

There is no way to request a gamertag. If the system says the tag is taken, then it is use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The only way you can take them is if the original owner changes the tag, or if they do not sign in for 5 years (starting 2016) they
will be released. Keep in mind that the tag system is in use on other Microsoft services so even if they're not in use on an Xbox, they may be in use elsewhere.

plus to add they use the game tag system on windows live PC games and zune so it can still be in use there. Also the system does not know the difference between spaces or caps and Dave McFly 85 are all the same tag.

inactive accounts have a long life span, don't hold your breath for it anytime soon.

You can't.You can't even be certain if the gamertag is inactive or not.Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so just because a tag has no activity on live does not mean it isn't being used somewhere else on one of Microsofts services.

The earliest any unused tags will be freed up is around August 2021 so you'll just need to keep checking after that date.

At my understanding this was set for the use of microsoft account, for services like outlook, where indeed says that you need to use it every two years. But the gamertag expires after 5 years, you can google it anywhere, there was a lot of news back on 2016.

I remember asking a long time ago to support what would happend if theres a gamertag but the email was expired. They said that the gamertag would remain there even there's no email.
