I would never play team based games when I know my child might wake up and I am always courteous if I have to quit. Unfortunately I don't game with a mic but always send a message afterwards apologising. It's only happened twice, the 1st was during a game
of Fifa and the 2nd was during a game of Killer Instinct, and if I'm going to quit during these games at least I know that the other player will still get their win recorded.

I for one try to never quit during an online game if it can be prevented, even if I end up the only human player vs 3 or 4 on Gears, Halo, Titanfall etc etc I will play right until the end.

Electroflying you talk like when you play multiplayer you're the only real person that you're playing with which obviously isn't the case and you may not owe them an explanation of why you're quitting but it is the courteous thing to do

  3. ^The internet, gaming & common courtesy have little to do with each other anymore, sadly. Everyone wants to make it about themselves... the proof is easy to see, since both sides of the 'quitting' argument are too firmly entrenched in their own reasons to
bother trying to understand the other sides.

For the record, I have never quit in a match. But for those who may have had to, is it our, or corporates place to penalize them for doing so?

    I say NO.

I disagree I think people should be penalized for quitting everyone in here is talking about quitting for the right reasons but in reality when most people quit including me it's because we're losing. I never play team multiplayer so I end up losing the
match and no one really gets affected. Not sure what the consequence should be for quitting especially a team match but there should be one

  6. I remember well a random match of Sp Ops on Halo 4 (Xbox 360) where all 4 of us was getting our backsides kicked. 2 people quit, and the 3rd when he spawned just set there. I thought the guy was glitched, so alone I went out 6 times to try and complete the
stage, and on that 6th try noticed the Spartan would look L/R. So on the 7th go around I laid my controller down and waited.

Sure enough he went forward, picked up my latest DMR (Before they nerfed it) beside my dead body and started shooting. It was then that I rejoined the match.

My K/D suffered heavely that day, but I never complained about the 2 that quit, nor the 1 who stood their like a knot on a log until round 7.

So when 343i began penalizing people I was against it for the simple fact that. 'It takes all kinds to make a world.' and if 343i hadn't done a K/D rating system. People wouldn't have cared about maintaining one.

Oh, and you can check my K/D record on halowaypoint. It isn't anywhere near good, and I never cared one way or the other. But for those that do. Quitting was their only option in maintaining it.

I think there is a difference between a ranked play list as a casual play list, if you want to penalize someone thats fine, as with quitting there is a right and wrong way of doing it.

The truth of the problem is that there is no accurate way of determining the reason someone quits. The Waypoint forums are rife with complaints about people being banned for having
connection problems, from their own connection and server issues that cause disconnects, among others. It doesn't matter if you think most people quit because they're losing or not, even if I tend to believe you... and I'm not sure... it's just conjecture
    based on your own experience.

Aside from that, it's difficult to come up with a penalty that's acceptable for paying customers. If the penalty is too harsh, people will whine and stop playing the game and won't
buy the next one. Not harsh enough and people whine that their MP experience is ruined by quitters.

I honestly believe that MP games should all have both social and ranked play lists. Social should not track stats and have no quit penalties. Ranked should.

  9. Oops, I forgot. I have quit on Halo 4 MP.

On one map a Knight would get stuck between a door where You could not kill him, and if you could not kill him the door would not open.

Another map, the Covy would drop on top of the mountain and get stuck in a crevis. If you couldn't get a shot on him to kill him the stage would never end. So on those acasions we (all 4 in those matches) had no choice but to quit.

  10. If I feel the need to leave a game for any reason I do without a second thought.

Honestly its a game, I fail to see the problem.

I should also add, if games want to penalise you for leaving they also have to make a way out, very few games have a resign option, which IMO should be in every MP game.

  12. ^Very few... to the point that I've never heard of it. I'd assume this is something that would have to be voted on by the entire team. Sounds sensible to me.

Rocket league has one, however I had an issue last night on rocket league when my team had random split screeners, one went afk, so only me resigned and the resign cancelled, I left and got 15 minute penalty. (We were getting hammered)

I have a family. Two 14 year olds and a 4 year old. Xbox time is golden and , at times, rare.

This is why I play the majority of games with friends not randoms.
