I've received abuse for quitting a game to attend to my daughter when she's woken up so I understand where you're coming from OP!

 

If your going to play team based games you should sell your children. Prioritise people.

I just wish XBL was a bit more talkative, like it once was. If it was, the only thing I'd ask of those who needed to quit a game to tend to something would be that they at least let their team know that something's come up and they can't finish the game.

"Sorry guys, my kid just woke up and I gotta go" would go a long way and I'd be plenty forgiving.

Prioritizing is key. I understand that some people don't believe in quitting and that's admirable... but these are video games. Of course nobody wants people quitting every 2 minutes, but I see it as completely immature for people to just freak out at those
who quit like they've committed a mortal sin.

XBL is a community that hosts a myriad of different gamers. Some just won't be as serious about their gaming as others. Expecting people to never, ever quit unless your house is on fire and only play when your chance of being interrupted is less than 3%
or something is just silly. Life happens. When people pay their XBL sub, they're part of a community, not a pro league.

 

I'm with Blue, yes it's fine if you have to quit a game to tend to real life nuisances, but have a little courtesy when doing so, it's the manner in which some people quit that gets to me, not the actual act of quitting.

Next time I will mention the option of selling their kids though so thanks for that one Genchy, haha.

I don't mind playing with Destiny with parents and I totally understand their need to quit in the middle of the game

...........

When I'm in the mood to play multiplayer, I try to make sure that it is on a time frame where I know that I will not be interupted.

Life is unpredictable and others need to realize this when a parent has to quit the game to tend to their kid(s).

I've played Destiny with parents who needed to quit due to their kid(s) needing them and I tell them that family is more important

..........

Sometimes I will be invited to a game, but I know that I won't be able to stick around for too long. I tell them (the person sending the invite)...

" I can help you with the Nightfall, but I need to leave in an hour so please have someone on standby to take my place when I go ".

The person then responds...

" Ok "

..........

Fortunately, we were able to complete the Nightfall in about 45 minutes at which we parted ways

I have a friend with two small children and understand when when "life" happens. It's the people that constantly have a emergency every minute and a half that I have a problem with; if you have to bail that often to find the red crayon, blue crayon, and
answer questions about Doc McStuffins...well maybe you should find a better time to play.

The quote is my own. But I think it about sums up how developers reason out implimenting banns on quiters. Oh sure, their are other reasons. But when you chew through the fat, the BOTTOM LINE (Meat) always comes down to cash and the potiential, whether realized
or no, for making more.

That said, when the real world demands your attention. The VR world HAS to either take the back seat, or get shoved completely off the Bus. And in the real world, the school of hard knocks simply will not give free rides to anyone!

Family 1st. VR.... I wouldn't even begin to rate it untill after the 1st Billion or so. And even then I would not feel compelled to tell anyone, especially in the VR world. Why I need to quit a match.
