I think my disc drive is broken (weird noises)...Now what?

Xbox One Disc Drive

My xbox one won't make the weird noises, it just completely wont let the disc in. It normally will just slide the disc in easily but the disc drive is unresponsive. Now, my Xbox one wont even turn off.

 

X1 Disc Drive Problems...

I'm having problems with the drive on my X1. It's been doing different weird things for a while now, but now it's starting to make noise when I insert a disc. After a few tries it will finally take the disc, but usually on the first and even second try it just makes noises like it didn't take the disc in all the way. My brothers did the same thing when he bought it, but it wouldn't take the disc at all ever.

Other things it's been doing are it will load the disc fine without any noise, but it won't show a disc is in the drive according to the home screen. Sometimes when I eject the disc it will just suck it back in the drive too.

I'm wondering if anyone thinks MS will fix it for me now or will I have to wait until it completely breaks? I want to get it fixed now since the warranty is about up.

 

Wow that's a bad noise, can you not just take it back to the store you got it at for a exchange I'm in the UK, don't know the laws of different places like the USA, hope you get it resolved soon good luck.

 

I'm in the UK too, not sure if I can take it back as i didn't buy a warranty and i thought you could only return faulty electricals before a 1 month period?

 

terrible customer service. they lie, read from scripts, tell you the machine you sent in has shipped when it hasn't, refuse to give you phone numbers if you are using the chat system, and are generally dismissive of these kinds of complaints. if you can
exchange it, do it. i sent mine in for repair and 10 days later, was still scratching my head over a system that had seemingly been misplaced in the system. and if you try to escalate the case to their advocacy team -- well, i was told i'd have to wait 14
business days just to get a reply to my complaint.
