I think an update may have messed up my Xbox! Been having problems with the homesreen..

Sorry for the long details ahead this is how my Brian processes things:

For the past few months I have been living with a friend using their 2013 Sony Bravia Kdl65w850a to play my Halo 5 Xbox One.

It had been working fine until a couple of weeks ago the power in the entire neighborhood went out for about ten minutes and then came back on.

Since then the tv I'm using no longer displays anything except for the main start up screen and the screen shown when I'm about to turn the console off with my controller. I thought it was my own console or the HDMI cable I've used every HDMI port on the tv but it's starting to look like it's not the case as my friend let me borrow his Day One Xbox One and I'm now having the exact same issue. Everywhere my dashboard should be shown doesn't show up..

After I booted up my friends Xbox and updated it I began having this issue.

I have a video posted of what exactly it is I'm talking about.. apologies for the breathing lol..

Anyone run into this problem and can they assist, or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new small tv while I'm at my friend's house?

I actually haven't been able to play in weeks and am just now asking because of the fact that I am on a different console and having the same issue.
