I signed in with someone else's account on Minecraft PS4.

I attempted to make a new Microsoft account to try out Console Cross-play between my PS4 Minecraft edition and a friend's Switch edition.

Creating the account was a success, but getting my new account to synch with Minecraft PS4 was different.

I followed the url and used the code yesterday, then signed into my email and it sent me a confirmation code to my inbox, then a problem happened. The confirmation code that was sent to my email expired suddenly, but it somehow went through.

I pressed the 'Sign-in with Microsoft Account' button and it give my an error message, stating the system tried signing my account in, 'but something went wrong'. I wanted to get that Code prompt to pop up, but the system prioritized signing in with my existing
account. Which gave the same error message, every time.

The following day today, I researched a solution, I reset my password, soft reset the PS4 application. And it gave back the Code prompt again. I then followed the url and used the Code, signed in to my email, and it went through, without sending a confirmation
code. I looked up to my PS4 display, replacing the Code prompt, an account I do not recognized, and I'm convinced I stole the poor guy's Microsoft account without me knowing.

I looked into the forums and it seems to my understanding, this has happened before. A bug that fits the description exactly, happened in December 2019 and it was apparently a common bug according to the communications team in the forums, at that time.

Right now, my priority is to try and get my PS4 unit disconnected from this guy's account. Then later when that is resolved, I'd like to get my account hooked up on my PS4 unit, with no problems, knock on wood.
