    I resolved the "no payment method on file" 360 backwards compatibility


    ok I'll keep this brief. I have never owned a 360 and was an early adopter for the program on my xbox one. After a big update I could never download a 360 game and told me I had no valid payment on file but yet I have 2 cards on it. Many hours of tech support
    and no avail. This started in 2015. Anyway tonight I looked at something very obvious and never noticed before. The address bar had a typo. So after the error I deleted the address bar to the first http.live.xbox.com/payment or whatever. Once I had that I
    pressed enter and sure enough a new option was there. Pay with PayPal or add card. The card still didn't load butbi logged in with PayPal and now I can get the 360 games.

    I can't believe their support team never figured it out

    Microsoft currency can't buy 360 games

    you can only on the 360 or with a credit card on the website

    You never been able.tl buy backwards compatibility titles without a console or a payment method

    You have no valid payment options on file

    Hi! I'm sorry that you have this issue. Unfortunately, you must have a payment method on file while getting or viewing a backwards compatibility xbox 360 game. Even if this game is FREE,but you will not be charged if you do so you can remove it afterwards
    if you wish. Hope I could help!

    Backward compatibility 360 games for Xbox One require a valid method of payment attached to your account, although they might be free games with gold. In the case of free games you will not be charged yet a purchase of 0.00$ will be filed so you still need
    a valid method of payment (a credit card) attached to your account.

    Depends what the game is? If it is Xbox Original or 360 backwards compatible and you are trying to purchase on an Xbox One. The answer is yes, you would need another payment method. Account balance can not buy backwards compatible games on the Xbox One

    I'm going to assume the game you can't download is the Xbox 360 Games with Gold game. If so, nothing has changed. In order to download backwards compatible content, the system requires a valid payment method on file. The One/website do not see the Microsoft
    account balance as a valid payment option for 360 content so you have to have a credit card/Paypal on file for those purchases, even if they are free, or the purchase has to be made from a 360 console.

    That is because the Xbox One and Xbox 360 use different marketplaces. The backwards compatible games still use a marketplace similar to Xbox.com which does not see the game as FREE, but as $0.00. Therefore, you must have a payment method on file to "purchase"
    the $0.00 game.
