I redeemed V bucks on my account, not my sons. Can I transfer them to his account?

Consumables like Fortnite V-Bucks have to be purchased by the account that is supposed to use them.

Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer consumables to a different account. While it is possible to buy a game and some DLCs that your son can play thanks to the Home Console setting that shares your game purchases with the first console you set up with
your account, consumables can't be shared to a console.

Therefore your son can't see the V-Bucks in his account, as the V-Bucks are stored on your account, and not shared to the console.

In order to get your son V-Bucks, you would have to buy him a currency gift card, that your son then redeems, and with which he can then buy V-Bucks for himself.

Seems like the only option is to find someone who needs a game and gift it to them and get them to buy me a new gift card for the same amount to then redeem on my son's account.

Lots of people with the same problem on the forums, also people who have bought V-Bucks on the parent's account and then can't transfer them to the kids account ( glad I saw that before I made the same mistake).

Tried logging into x-box with my account and then logging into fortnite with my sons account to buy the v-bucks with my money but that isn't possible either as the fortnite account is locked to my son's login.

Thanks for your suggestions but looks like I will just have to ask around or wait to see if there is a game I can gift to him or a friend in the future.

How can i get this money transferred to my son's child account or otherwise can i buy the v bucks and transfer v bucks to his account.

Incidentally, he has other gift cards so how do I redeem these so that the funds go into his child account?

While you can't transfer the money directly, you can however buy "persistent" items like games or DLC content and gift that to your son.

Unfortunately, "consumables" like V-Bucks can't be gifted, as far as I know. So you might have to buy another gift card for this time, and in the future, when your son wants to get a game, you can buy it with the funds you have on your account as a gift.

In the future, whenever you redeem a card, there is a confirmation screen before you actually redeem the code.

So after you enter the code, and proceed, the system will tell you that this code will be redeemed to a specific Microsoft Account email.

Make double sure that the email shown there belongs to the account you want to redeem the code to.

If the email is correct, confirm redemption of the code.

If the email is for your account, sign out of your account. If you do it on a PC or other web browser, I'd suggest you clear Cookies and if necessary open an incognito/private browser window, and sign in with your son's account.

Again, when redeeming the code, check the email to which the code is going to be redeemed, before actually confirming code redemption.

Yes my name is listed in xbox.com. However i cannot change his name as I can for my other son on Microsoft.com. More importantly, when i log in to my epicgames.com account to redeem v bucks for Fortnite it has his gamer tag for xbox in my account.
