    I recently bought a physical copy of Minecraft: Xbox ONE Edition, can I get Bedrock from it?


    I recently bought a physical copy of Minecraft: Xbox ONE Edition without realizing that, in order to play with friends on other consoles, I should have checked if it was the “Bedrock” edition. But since I own this disc and I fear I bought the wrong game, will it grant me any sort of upgrade to the Bedrock one or do I have to buy a different version of Minecraft to play with my friends?

    I'm sorry about that, the free upgrade to the Bedrock edition ended last November 30, 2019. If your friends are playing the Bedrock version then you will have to get the Bedrock version of the game to be able to play with them.

    If you have Minecraft: Xbox One Edition you should automatically get Minecraft Bedrock Edition for Free. Hope this helps!

    If the friends purchased Minecraft digitally before 20 September 2017 then they had the Xbox One Edition of the game, which has been completely replaced by the Bedrock version of the game.

    Xbox One Edition is still available in physical copy form from major retailers.

    The Xbox One Edition of Minecraft is no longer available for digital download as it was replaced by the Bedrock version on the Microsoft Store in 2017.

    If you are able to get your hands on a physical copy of the game then you should be able to play it on your console.
