i purchased a digital game from microsoft and i never have been able to get the game to...

I have here steps that we can try to possibly get the game working, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:



POWERCYCLE CONSOLE​​​

"1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off. ​​​

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller. ​​"



If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.



"Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps."

Especially knowing the timing of this was most likely intended for Christmas purchases. This is very disappointing and I feel SURE we are not the only ones that have been affected by this. I am just so surprised that Microsoft is completely unwilling to even attempt to help with this or at least offer a refund if they truly are un-able to re-assign the digital games to another Microsoft account. Seems odd that you can buy digital codes from Best Buy or Walmart but if you buy one from Microsoft you are restricted from using the same digital purchase for another specified account. It is not like the price that was charged for a game we will never be able to use was discounted.

https://commerce.microsoft.com (name, address, region, etc.). Also, can you make sure that your payment method's information is the same as your account?

I don't see the option to refund through order history, even though I ordered the game about an hour before I played it. I only played Cuphead about 15-20 minutes.

I had to contact support and they gave me a hard time about it, but finally refunded the purchase as a "one time exception"

FYI, I've never seen an option to refund a purchased game in my order history. I ask the Xbox support agent to confirm that I should see that option and he said that I always need to contact Microsoft for any sort of digital game refund. He seemed to not
have a clue as to what I was talking about.

I'm in Canada, perhaps digital refunds are only in the US? I haven't been able to find anything on the Microsoft site saying anything about refunding digital purchases...

I don't believe there was ever a fix for this definitely not after the game's been out for that long. For the preview discs that didn't work I believe that 343i gave those affected (with an official list from Microsoft) a digital code for the game.

If you purchased this game from someone else, or this is a preowned game from a store then you won't be eligible for that. Since these codes have been distributed already long ago you'll probably need to buy a disc copy of the game or purchase the game via
games on demand in order to be able to play it.
