I played Hunter call of the wild and played over an hour and did not see one animal??

Unfortunate Hunter call of the wild is not cross-play and I have not heard anything yet about it becoming cross-play, and it does not seem like it will be one of those games that become cross platforms.

There's not a Game Pass version of games. They're exactly the same games as if you bought them, so there wouldn't be any difference.

If the game were to leave Game Pass or he stopped paying for a subscription, then yeah, he would lose access to the game. Since you bought it for him, he won't lose the ability to play it, although he would still need at least Game Pass Core to play it online.
