    I own minecraft windows 10 edition on my xbox but not PC


    I was given for free minecraft 10 windows edition for owning the xbox one edition, does this mean I can't download it on my laptop through the microsoft store? It's not in my ready to install.

    I have Minecraft and minecraft windows 10 edition on my PC but I want to know can I play either of these on my xbox or do I need to purchase minecraft on my xbox also. I do not have windows 10 but I have the windows 10 edition (which i obviously cant use)
    so I was just wondering if i could play it on my xbox instead of my pc because most of my friends have an xbox instead of a pc or would I have to buy it on xbox too.

    Try to see if you can install it from the website, not the Windows store Buy Minecraft for Windows 10 - Microsoft Store

    Just to clarify, you did receive an redeem a code for the Windows 10 version right? Minecraft is not a Play Anywhere title like State of Decay 2. So it will not let you install it on PC just for owning it on the Xbox.

    xbox play anywhere on minecraft

    I own minecraft "windows 10 edition" on xbox one but isn't availabile on windows 10....
    There is no "Windows 10 Edition" on the Xbox One.

    On the Xbox One, there was a "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" but that has been replaced with just "Minecraft".

    As the others already said, "Minecraft" is not a Play Anywhere title, so owning "Minecraft" on the Xbox One, doesn't give you "Minecraft Windows 10 Edition" on the PC.

    However, if you own Minecraft Java Edition on PC, you can log into your Mojang Account on PC, and can get a code for the Windows 10 Version.

    My account was charged for game pass for pc and it says i have it but i cant play Minecraft Java

    As previously noted. Microsoft owns Minecraft, however Minecraft Java is not a Microsoft or Xbox game. The PC equivalent is “Minecraft Windows 10 edition” the Java version is a separate game not part of Minecraft bedrock, their-for not cross play with other devices.

    Xbox owns W10 edition not Java edition

    To change your skin in minecraft windows 10 edition, click your character on the main menu. The website you're trying to use is for the original minecraft for pc, or commonly known as java minecraft. Even though both games are minecraft for pc, they are
    totally different products. That explains the error you're receiving; you don't actually own minecraft for pc/mac, you own minecraft for windows 10.

    Hello Marshmellow,

    Do you own the PC version of Minecraft? If not you only have the beta and wont be able to upgrade unless you purchase the regular Minecraft for windows 10. If you do own the PC version of Minecraft you should be able to upgrade to the Minecraft windows 10
    edition for free. Check this website on the PC and see if it says to install or purchase.
