If I understood correctly. You used to have a physical copy for Minecraft xbox one edition. Right now you don't have the disc, so you're using the trial version but you want to purchase the disc later and once you get it you want to delete the trial version, right?

Don't worry, once you find the disc you can delete the trial version from your console

U should check if u own Minecraft Xbox one edition check if it has a popup that says

u have been playing Minecraft Xbox one edition for Certain days u can get this new Minecraft for free

And once u tap to get Minecraft u will be redirected to the Xbox store Minecraft will be free

That's how I got Minecraft free

I don't get anything, I know I've had hundreds of hours in Minecraft xbox one edition. It might have been through another profile owning it on the same console in the past. Regardless it should either say "owned" or "purchase price". But it all it says is
"get trial".

I don't want a trial.. or this new free Minecraft.

Why is this so difficult.. I just want the original xbox one edition minecraft where I can continue my saves and achievement progress.

Yeah,you would need to buy it again if you don't own a physical copy

You must own either a physical copy or digital copy to be able to play it on the xbox one if it's backwards compatible.

Better Together FAQ on the Minecraft support page that provides the following information:

Q: How long will the Better Together Update be available as free download to players who own the console version of the game?


A: Owners of the disc version of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition will have until January 30th 2018 to have played Minecraft for five or more hours in the past 12 months OR purchased a DLC Pack. There is no curoff
for digital Minecraft: Xbox One Edition owners.

If you do not own the digital copy you won't be able to update it for free anymore. But if you do own the digital copy then you should be able to update for free, If you have further issues then I would advise that you reach out to their

You can have both of the Minecraft editions installed on your Xbox (I have both digital but having a physical copy won't make any differences because I play both on mine). That being said here's some info from the official Mojang (Minecraft/Microsoft) site.
