  1. I need help with my headset

So, I have been using my PX24 turtle beach heeadset fine until a few days ago. I can no longer hear through it, or other headphones, when I plug it in to the Xbox controller. On the top right of the home screen (next to the time) there is an icon of a muted
mic, even though mine is just the same as it was a few days ago. I do not know is this could affect it, but I switched controllers and updated one while my headset was connected. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    :)

  2. I need help with my wired headset please!

Well the main reason i said "everyone" is because i watch myself talking in party chat and i see the icon when the mic activates and it doesn't pick me up like it should. NAT isn't the issue, I have my Xbox 360 running on DMZ on my router and all ports are
open. Connection Speed isn't an issue, I have 30Mbps Down and 10Mbps Up and soon will be going to 60 down 20 up. I have tried the mic almost completely inside my mouth lol and it still doesn't pick up like it should. I've adjusted it to the very corner, above
my mouth, below my mouth and still the same results. Honestly i just think the wired 360 mics are garbage mics i know plenty of people i talk to that have the same issue i do with the same mic not picking up their voice like it should and have to raise their
voice short of shouting for anyone to hear them. I purchased a wireless headset and hopefully i will get better results from it. Do you know if removing the padding piece over the mic itself will result in a better pick up?

Honestly, this may or may not be helpful. 2 ideas... First is connection. Open NAT and a decent connection speed (upload speeds are typically a culprit for this) Check the connection speed with a site like speedtest.net and watch the upload speed. It may
be a bit anemic compared to download speeds (Like my download is about 100mps but my upload speed is about 12mbps wired). I am not sure what speed you need to transfer your voice and game information (upload), but I know 12mbps is fast enough. It could also
be WHO you are connecting to. I know you say "everyone" but some times I have issues with a guy I play with who is 1800 miles away, but I have no issues connecting to a friend across the pond. His DL speed is not quick enough to catch everything.

My second thought on this comes from personal experience. Myself and my son have "soft", "bassy" voices. GREAT voices for the radio (I used to be a talk show host) but for some reason, the official 360 mic doesn't pick us up very well. We were having the
exact same problem when we first started playing online and via LAN. After hours of saying "WHAT!?!?" to one another across the house and playing with the mic and sound settings, we found that the mic needs a noise to turn on (clipping the first part of everything
we said or omitting one word commands) and while talking some words and sounds were not registered by the mic causing it to turn off then back on so it sounded like it was cutting out. IE: Celtic sounds like "K" turn it on, but "oh" "ah" and other romance
sounds would not fully register and turn off the mic. I think it decided those sounds were background noise.

Moving forward, we changed 3 things and the issue went away.

-Number 1 was the position of our boom. We found that by having the boom by the corner of our mouth and allowing it to almost touch the skin, much of the issue went away, but there was still a little clipping.

-Number 2 was to clear our throat or make some other obscure noise before speaking. This allowed the to register our voice before speaking. Takes getting used to, but it helped dramatically.

-Number 3 we did for my son as his voice is a higher pitch and he was still having some issues. Think of how much more you can hear when you cup your hand around your ear. Now remember that while reading this and it will make more sense as to what and why
we did this... Also, before taking the time to build this (it takes about 5 minutes to build), you could try cupping your hand around the mic. It will not be as good as the below contraption, but it will (slightly) increase the sensitivity of your mic.

We took a paper cup and cut the bottom inch off. Then we took some tin foil and molded a bowl shape to fit in the bottom inch of the cup and around the edge of the cup. Using a razor knife, we cut a notch in the cup and tin foil just beep enough that 60%
of the boom was inside the cup and just wide enough so that the boom arm would fit sung into the notch (so it could be adjusted). We centered the boom to the bowl and then tried it out. His voice never clips now while he is talking and is louder than mine
in chat. I have to ask him to move his boom back some times.

I hope something above is helpful to you.

I need help with this headset

Hi, Nathaniel! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with your headset.

May I ask what your headset's exact model is? perhaps yours uses a different reset method that doesn't require a mute button.

I look forward to your reply.
    Best regards.
