I need help buying a microphone...

First, for regular recording using the Xbox Game DVR you can't record your voice.

And second, for use with the Xbox One you must use a mic with a 3.5mm input for use with a controller.

You can use for recording if you have some hardware like an ElGato game capture device and also have a cable that's 3.5mm so that you can speak to people ingame and also have it recording the mic on your computer via USB in the same video file. It may be
complicated but it will work if you have everything set up correctly.

I took a look at the mic you are referring to and I'm not sure it will be compatible on the Xbox by directly connecting it via USB to the Xbox One. I saw some videos on YouTube of people setting up the mic you referenced and another one call the Blue Yeti
but it took a lot of physical setup and required you to connect it through the PC and use the Xbox app on the PC for the party chat.

I found a microphone made by Turtle Beach that seems to work on the Xbox One by simply plugging it into the USB and has goo reviews. Keep in mind though that you may not be able to use a stereo headset with a mic connected to the controller since I don't
think you can have two mics connected concurrently. Also reviews say these mics are very sensitive and friends complain of echo and other background noise. You may also need to get a cover or windscreen for some noise cancelation but users say it still sounds

Unfortunately you will need to buy a microphone designed for use with a 360.

Buy a capture card/device. Read reviews on which one suits your needs. Buy a quality microphone, and for all that is holy, get a pop filter for it.

We appreciate you reaching out to us with this issue. Muting your mic while in a party is fairly easy. Open up the Xbox App, navigate to the party, select your gamertag, and select to mute your mic. This should prevent your party from hearing you further.
