OMG! I love Killer Instinct season 2, Maya rules

I got the Ultra Edition and I don't use anyone else but Maya; I don't care about the other characters at all LOL

..........

With that being said, I have a couple of questions about the game. Thank you very much for your assistance regarding this matter, I really appreciate it

(1) Where is Maya's story mode?

(2) Despite the fact that I don't care about any other character besides Maya, I wouldn't mind purchasing the season 1 character bundle if it goes on sale. Will the season 1 character bundle go on sale?

(3) How do I turn the auto doubles off? The reason that I'm asking this question is because in Marvel vs Capcom 2, you could mix up the Quick Punch & Quick Kick instead of doing two punches & two kicks like in Killer Instinct season 2.

Hello everyone

As much as I would love to play the " Original Killer Instinct 2 " again (even though I am not very good at the game, but I have lots of fun playing it), I will not buy Killer Instinct Season 2 just to play it.

Also, it is such a shame that the " Original Killer Instinct " and " Original Killer Instinct 2 " will never become stand alone games on the XBL Game Store.

Furthermore, for anybody who isn't aware about this fact at this point of time; you WILL NOT get the " Original Killer Instinct " when you buy the disc copy of Killer Instinct Season One and you WILL NOT get the " Original Killer Instinct 2 " when you buy
the disc Killer Instinct Season Two.

First,Hizako rules !!!

If it's like season 1 ,a story mode should be available when all season 2 characters will be release.

Season 1 bundle did got some "special sale/discount",it might happen again.(just a question of time).

Don't know,only play default setting.

 

Hisako is my current favorite Season 2 character. She has that Grudge thing going on.

I am not sure about the settings either. I just play it as is.

Didn't a disc copy of Killer Instinct season 1 come out already? If so, If I find that disc copy for cheap and install it; does that mean I will have access to all of the season 1 characters even though the Killer Instinct season 1 disc is not in the Blu-Ray
Drive and I am playing Killer Instinct season 2? Has anyone tried this?

To answer your question Lei, yes there is a Season 1 Killer Instinct hard copy. And it will work with your Season 2. I believe that you will still have to keep the disc in. But I am not 100% certain.

Lei Fang, I will be more than happy to help you learn the ADs, because, as much as it may pain me to tell you this, there is no way to turn them off, since they're an integral part of the game's combo mechanics.

The ADs are actually pretty easy to do. You simply start a combo with an opener (you can look these up in your character's command list), and then press ANY attack button ONCE as your character performs the opener. If I recall correctly, Maya can open combos
with the following:

QCF+P

QCF+K

F+HK

Here are some notes for future reference:

QCF=quarter-circle forward; simply rotate the joystick quickly starting from the down position all of the way to the direction facing your opponent, e.g. D,DF, F

QCB=same as QCF; except you rotate AWAY from your opponent

P=any punch button

K=any kick button

LP=light punch; also known as X

LK=light kick; also known as A

MP=medium punch; also known as Y

MK=medium kick; also known as B

HP=heavy punch; also known as the right-bumper

HK=heavy kick; also known as the right trigger

LP+MP+HP=the left bumper; good for ultra combos

LK+MK+HK=the left trigger; good for ultra combos

AD=auto-double

Once you see your character performing the opener, press ANY of the attack buttons (LP, MP, HP, LK, MK, HK) for a different kind of AD. ADs are called such because you press the button only once, and in return get an attack that hits twice. LP and LK are
very fast and impossible to break on reaction (you have to guess break or anticipate your opponent ahead of time); MP and MK are not as hard to break and can be broken on reaction, but do more damage; HP and HK are the slowest and easiest to break, but do
the most damage. If an opponent performs an AD on you, and you can anticipate it, you can perform a combo-breaker by pressing the 2 punch and kick buttons that match the strength of your opponent's AD. For example, I attack Maya with a MP AD - you would then
have to press MP+MK at the same time to combo-break it. If you succeed, you stop your opponent's combo and can counter-attack. If you fail, you will get locked out (in other words, you're left helpless) for up to 3 seconds or until your opponent either finishes
or drops their combo. If and when this happens, you will see a giant X above your character's head. If it's red, that means you guess wrong (for example, you pressed HP+HK against my MP); if it's yellow, that means your timing was off (you have to combo-break
DURING the AD, not before or after). Interestingly enough, if you are the 1 performing the combo with ADs, and anticipate a combo-breaker, you can perform a counter-breaker by pressing MP+MK to prevent them from stopping your combo (assuming they succeed of
course - they'll have a 1 in 3 chance). If they attempt to do a combo-breaker while you perform your counter-breaker, they will be locked out for the full 3 seconds and you will be able to continue your combo. However, if you try to perform a counter-breaker
and they DON't combo-break, you drop your entire combo, don't cash out as much damage, and leave yourself vulnerable to counter-attack.

This is part of why KI is such a great fighting game. You can use these mechanics to play mind games and create setups against your opponents by watching for patterns. It's like a big game of rock, paper, scissors that promotes constant 2-way interaction
(as opposed to other fighting games where you just sit there and watch your opponent pummel you into the ground until they finish their combo). You can practice how to properly use, identify, and counter ADs in either practice mode or in survival mode's easiest
difficulty (which you can choose by pressing Y at the character selection screen). In the latter option, the AI opponent's almost ALWAYS use heavy ADs, so you can start there (since they're the easiest to spot) and work your way down to the medium and then
light ADs via the former option. It should be noted that ADs look different for EVERY character, so it may take quite a bit of time to get used to identifying them to break - this is where practice mode comes in handy. Even better, the developers have announced
a new AD practice mode, where you can learn and setup all of the things I'm talking about here.

Finally, I've played Maya - a lot. If you'd like to know anything more specific about how to play her, I'm definitely your go-to-guy.

Otherwise, if you'd like to learn more, I find my friend, Infil, has a really handy guide that can be found here.

My apologies if I've droned on - but if you can understand this, you've already learned half of the game's mechanics. The only thing that's really left are linkers, enders, and manuals (this of course, isn't counting things that are already in other fighting
games, like normals, command attacks, footsies, throws, crossovers, overheads, etc.).

I don't even bother with Combo Breakers because I will probably mess it up anyways. I play on the Easy difficulty setting because It minimizes my opponent's use of Combo Breakers and it also permits me to spam the same two combos repeatedly LOL

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is my favorite fighthing game so I am no stranger to most of the stuff in Killer Instinct season 2. The only thing that is new to me are the Combo Breakers.

Hmm, interesting...

According to your combos, you already know how to do ADs.

Your 1st combo, re-oroganized, so you can see the steps of what you're doing right and wrong:

1. HP (1st hit - you can start combos with a lot of normal attacks, but doing so adds a lot to the KV meter, which means you're more likely to blow out your combo, which I'll explain below)

2. QCF+HK (opener) - Maya's spin kick

3. MP (AD) - 2 straight dagger strikes

4. QCB+MK (linker) - backwards spin kick

5. MP (AD) - 2 straight dagger strikes

6. QCF+MK (linker) - Maya's spin kick

7. MP (AD) - 2 straight dagger strikes)

8. QCF+HK (ender) - Maya's heavy knockdown ender

9. QCF+HK (new combo opener)

Using your 1st combo as an example, it actually (mostly) follows the typical combo pattern of KI, which I'm absolutely proud to see you using (it's actually pretty easy though, because it's generally a special move followed by an attack, then you rinse and
repeat until you finish the combo with an ender, which is basically any HP or HK special move to cash out the damage or the KV meter fills up (it can be located on the side of the screen as you perform a combo.

The KV meter fills up from green to yellow to red if I recall correctly - if it fills up all of the way while performing a combo, you'll get a blow-out and your combo will automatically end and you will lose a lot of damage (your opponent will spin through
the air really fast and drop to the ground) as a result.

The green boxes underneath the KV meter indicate your combo level - the more boxes highlighted in green, the higher the level, and the more damage your combo will cash out (longer combos generally mean higher level) with an ender. Ideally, you want to get
the KV meter as filled up as you can without blowing it out AND with as high a combo-level as you can. If done right, ANY character can get upwards of 40% damage in a single combo.

It should also be noted that the combo mentioned above can be combo-broken in about 5 different places (and I would most likely break it at step 3, if you were fighting me). Also, that last move in your combo actually should start a new combo, that you apparently
never complete, since the move before it is her HK ender and should result in a knockdown.

Here try this combo:

QCF+HK, LP, QCB+MK, MP, QCF+HP.

The first move opens and does a lot of damage and even has range.

The 2nd move is quick and cannot be broken on reaction, which as a result, has a great chance of locking out your opponent.

The 3rd hit brings you back to your starting point.

The 4th hit increases the damage.

The 5th hit throws both daggers, ends the combo and cashes out a lot of damage.

The above combo should get you at least 30% damage, if not more, every time. Even better, if you add an extra P or K button to any of the QCF or QCB moves (so instead of pressing QCF+MK, for example, you could press QCF+LK+MK), you'll perform a shadow move
that hits 5x and does EVEN MORE damage AND without filling up the KV meter (however, to get a shadow move to work, your shadow meter, the blue meter at the bottom of the screen, must have at least 1 of the 2 bars full). With 2 bars of shadow meter, you can
perform 2 shadow attacks in a single combo that can be absolutely devastating and easily increase your damage output to 60-70% taken out of a single life-bar.

Since you said you play on easy, that means if the AI-controlled opponent performs a combo on you, then you can break it easily. When an opponent hits you with their attack, keep an eye out for when they punch or kick you twice - those are the heavy ADs
I was telling you about in my last post (they should also generally be the 2nd attack, after a special move). When you see them start that, press HP+HK (right bumper+right trigger) at the same time to combo-break them. Do this, and you'll find your fights
becoming A LOT easier.

FInally, since you said you like playing Maya (and only Maya), here is
her page on Infil's site, that will give you a lot of tips and tricks on how to use her more effectively.

I don't like throwing Maya's daggers so any combo or move that requires me to chuck them (the daggers) at my opponent isn't going to happend at all LOL

As far as Combo Breakers go, I don't care about using them since I will never play PvP anyways.

Throwing her daggers is a HUGE part of her game though - it's what allows her to maximize her damage, create openings, and make a lot of moves safer. Besides, if you throw them and they get blocked, they gain special abilities, like tracking and being unblockable,
for example, if you throw both of them later (as indicated by the yellow and purple pips at the bottom along with the symbol next to each dagger).

Using Infil's guide as a reference, here are the bestowed abilities on her THROWN daggers, if blocked:

Please understand that it isn't my intention to be mean / rude, but Maya throwing her Daggers to damage her opponent is stupid because she has to pick them back-up afterwards and she loses a lot of moves when she isn't weilding 2 Daggers.

As far as I'm concerned, Maya's Daggers can't be thrown at all LOL

I only use moves that don't involve Maya chucking her Daggers at her opponent and this is the way I play her.

I don't care about learning how to time the Combo Breakers nor do I care about learning more about the game to play beyond the Easy / Beginner difficulty setting.
