I live in Germany but I do not want my *** console in German. I know if I change my region, I can have my console in English, but many apps do not work after that (for obvious reasons). SOOOO Microsoft, I would like to have my console in ENGLISH!!! with
English commands for the kinect, but I would like to keep my region GERMANY!! So I can use apps! This problem was the same for the 360!! But since you are the most unfriendly firm on the planet towards customers, I might sell the *** xbox one and buy a ps4
    !

    Games in English

I live in Germany, but I'm not a German speaker. I moved my account to Germany in order to be able to use online services, but since then I also receive games in German and have my XBox menu in German, despite that my console system language is English.

I want content in language I can fully understand, without being tied to current country "default". How do I get english speaking games with my account residing in Germany?

(Honestly, excuse me, but the fact that it doesn't work as expected is just so stupid)

Some of my games have their achievements in German. I got the Xbox One from Germany, I live in Sweden and I have the console language on English.

This really mess up the fun in achievements since i dont understand German!

I live in Germany! But I dont want my console in GERMAN!!!

Why would you have english commands and content when your marketplace would be still in german?

Just having english menus doesn't change your content to uk marketplace you would still be in german

FYI Germany has the most strict of rules for gaming content it is governed by the USK

Meaning content must comply with international laws in the respected regions

So even if you had english menus you won't have english content seeing as you would only have access to local content based on your nationally supported language

English isn't a nationally supported language worldwide

You can have english if you set your locale but only when you aren't on the live servers since they would be matching the region and language of your marketplace

You also have to remember kinect is accent aware and it is region based

Meaning it looks for german accent in a german account and ip

Since accents affect words it's not possible to use a english accent on a german kinect account you would have major issues with voice commands

This ist not true. I have a german gamertag, live in Germany too but when I set the region and language to U.S./english the voice commands work just fine for me. And I wouldn´t say that I have no accent when I speak english.

    Hey Lucius!

At this point the Location of the console and the Language of the Xbox One are directly connected. Meaning, at this time, having a console located in Germany, but reflecting English.

From what I understand they're still working on perfecting the written and spoken (Kinect) language to make sure the when the cross over does happen there are less problems with the commands.

I know it's a pain, I'm anxious for them to get it figured out too. I know it's not the greatest answer, but it gave me some insight.

I live in Germany! But I dont want my console in GERMAN!!!

    THIS....this whole post....exactly.

I speak English but live in Germany.... since most games use your language as specified in your settings, the only way for me to play games in English is to set it to English/UK for language and region. Which effectively means I cant use the marketplace.
(except via VPN which is PROBABLY against the rules, can I get confirmation of that?)

The 360 did actually achieve this, I had my account migrated to Germany, but my console language set to English.

Yes this meant my marketplace was in German (don't care I can get by with that), but it allowed my games and other content to correctly identify that I speak English.

If the official Microsoft stance on this is to simply set your language and region incorrectly then I will do that, but if I get banned for doing so I swear I will ditch the considerable number of Microsoft products I currently use.

I have supported Microsoft for a really long time, and this problem is just ridiculous.

As far as Kinect is concerned it works PERFECTLY when I choose English/UK so I think that's a stupid excuse, with regards to the USK I don't really care about that they can do as they please with the marketplace content since I mostly import games from the
UK or other EFIGS locale anyway.

This whole scenario is just ridiculous. I actually just want to be doing the RIGHT thing, buying from the legally appropriate marketplace, and not tricking the console into working only for games (since the majority of other functions don't work for me
now, Xbox Live video correctly states that my account region Germany is incompatible with the regional settings of my console English/UK)

most disc games only support the language you bought them in

seeing as most games do not support multiple language options on disk (you have to buy the disk based on your language)

this does not affect online settings like Kinect or online content marketplace will always be german due to international laws

that isn't something you can bypass

that's why you are seeing german

if you disconnect from the net yes your dashboard and menus will be based on your actual region and account region

Kinect is region based due to IP and accents

you can check the official Kinect region articles

you can fool the Kinect by having a out of region account but if you have another accent you will have trouble

yes I have problems with an Asian accent and English commands

offline content like discs and local console settings are not affected by your account region that is why you are seeing the English as games do not change languages as they are usually sold in one language which is based on your DISC

online content is governed by your online marketplace and international laws that you cannot change regardless of your console settings

That's not actually true, the vast majority of Xbox One titles bought in Germany also support English (xbox 360 titles were more risky, because of disk space I suspect), and Germany is actually the most likely to release a German ONLY version because of
    their stupid censorship board.

If you buy a game from England it will pretty much ALWAYS include English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (EFIGS)

And which language the game chooses to use is pulled from your regional settings as specified in the dashboard. (except the very rare games which actually allow you to manually select it i.e Lego Marvel Super Heroes, some of the Assassins Creed titles)

The MAIN point is that on the Xbox 360 you could choose language English, location Deutschland.

Games used English as they should, Marketplace was German as it should be.

We are not asking for a NEW feature here, we are asking for the previous feature to WORK.

You can actually test this yourself very easily, get a copy of NFS:Rivals..... change your language and region to the United Kingdom... load the game, it will say KINECT COMMANDS FOR ENGLISH(UK) bla bla on the loading screen.

Now quit... change your language and region to English USA, load it, and voila KINECT COMMANDS FOR ENGLISH(US) bla bla..... the language you specify in dash is STILL tied to games choices about what language to use. And most games don't give you an option
    to manually select.

As for the ridiculous excuse about people speaking English with an accent if their location is Germany.

How about those of us who are native English speakers from another region who just happen to LIVE in Germany.

Not every gamer in Germany speaks English like a WW2 era Nazi

I'm in the same situation as well. I'm from Brazil and if I set my console to Portuguese and Brazil region everything it's in portuguese our dub/sub is awful I simply can't stand it. But if I change my console to English I am forced to change the region
for an english speaking one and can't use my credit card. Yes I could keep changing back and forth by really? 500 dollar console can't simply let me set my preferable language?

I live in Germany! But I dont want my console in GERMAN!!!

again mister apathy it is decided by the majority not you

what language is officially supported in your region

localization is mandated by international laws

UK content may not be allowed in GERMANY or has to be adjusted according to the laws

also localizing content goes to the majority supported language as if 5% population would cover the cost of developing content in English so if only 5% of the region (that's a BIG IF) only speaks English and of that only 50% of them actually buy xbox one
games it wouldn't cover the cost of developing a game in English in compliance of the local laws

    remember making content isn't free

nor can they legally import content from another region without running into international laws

also they would legally need distribution rights from musicians writers actors and that COSTS money

localization isn't really should be your main concern

if you do not adapt to your environment you will have bigger issues then a game

like reading signs that is set in your national language or following local laws so is your excuse is I couldn't read the sign if you speed on the autoban oh I couldn't read the sign do you really think a german or French police officer will let you off
    with a warning?

    I doubt it

in life you must adapt and comply with international laws and your location

if I told my teacher when I was a child in Canada and I refuse to learn the local language (English or French depending on my location)

that I refuse to listen to her commands and learn English while in school or out on the street with a police officer

I'd be in jail or detention

with international travel you must learn and adapt

or you will face bigger issues then a game setting

international laws are there for a reason and apply to you

    you cant ignore them

You completely missed the point now. I don't want content in English localized on my country I just want to play my games on the language they were built I refuse to play a game made by a huge company that spent a huge amount of money on casting voices on
a dub made for a awful company in Brazil. What I asked is: don't make language and region dependant information. I work a Dell making developing software I know how this things works. It's an easy change unless there is a rule somewhere made by someone forcing
this to be this way. Even if that's the case is just a matter of clarifying the issue and we can all enjoy the content on the language we prefer.
