I let my game pass lapse now i cant even play the physical copy of the game.

I allowed game pass to lapse because i didn't have the money to purchase it again. I have an actual physical copy of the game Monster Hunter world. I continuously get the message about game pass being lapsed and to check the disc. The disc is spotless
and can install the game but i still get the same message. Non of my other discs cause this problem. Plus it still works in my friends xbox. He doesn't use game pass. I believe the problem to be on Microsoft's end. I've read of other people having this same
issue. Can i get some kind of help or what?

Have you uninstalled the game and installed it again from disk?
If you did not follow the procedure: Uninstall the game, clear the xbox cache (by pressing the power button for 10 seconds) turn on again and install from disk.

Thank you very much for the help. I uninstalled that game 3 times this week. I did not know you had to do that thing with the button. If you work for microsoft tell them i said you need a raise.

You have to uninstall the digital copy and install physical game. When you download form game pass, the game have a key attached on game pass service.

Yea, I tried using a different HDD. I even started playing the game with my friends physical copy, then tried to load his save with my downloaded copy. When I loaded it up, it still freezes up once you hit "continue" or "new game" or anything else. I cant
even join someone else's co-op game through an invite.

I guess let me try to explain this differently. I realise the license for a digital copy is attached to a user account. I also realize that with a physical copy the disc is the license.

Now there are a few scenarios here I have in mind which I have had experience with.

Scenario 1a. A friend comes over with their physical disc. Installs the game, then leaves with the game. Result: game files installed but i cant play because I don't have the game purchased digitally and/or dont have the physical copy to put in the drive.

Scenario 1b. Friend comes over. Downloads their profile to my Xbox. Download a game. End of the day they remove their account from my Xbox. Result: Game is still installed but I can not play because I don't have the game purchased digitally and/or don't
have the physical copy to put in the drive.

Scenario 2. Game access is offered through Xbox free play days. I download the game. Play it for a couple days. Then the free play offer expires. Result: Game is still installed but i can not play it because I don't have the game purchased digitally and/or
don't have the physical copy to put in the drive.

All of these are examples of the game being downloaded and the system waiting for some form of license verification.

Im just thinking let everyone preload whether it be for slow internet, convenience, etc. The system will still check for a valid license on request to boot the game. (Disk or account association) If you dont have either it's a no go.
