I launch fortnite on my Xbox one s and it keeps returning me to the home menu without any...

Unfortunately, I have not previously connected my app on my phone to my console, and am now unable to do so without any controller input. The controller works just fine when I insert a game disk so that the game automatically launches. But as soon as I hit the home button and the home menu comes up, there’s no controller input except for the home button which will return me to the game. Is there any other way to update the controller firmware without the use of the controller itself?

When I press the app icon the screen briefly changes as if its about to launch then immediately goes back to what was there before, either the list of apps or the home screen if trying to launch from a pinned tile. My phone is only getting carrier updates,
no dev account updates. No changes to my live id have been made. This app was working yesterday and has now stopped. I have also renamed the xbox one's hostname to no avail. Don't want to hard reset the phone and I find it frustrating that there is so little
(none in fact) info from the phone as to why it's happening. The speed with which the app just fails to launch and returns me to the menu / home screen makes me think its not getting as far as trying to talk to the xbox one. Anyone got any other suggestions?

i dont have this new xbox home menu yet somehow i still got the old menu not the new one

it give me the option and i press oh k and nothing happens nothing changed

can one of the Microsoft dev do a console update to every console for me please

Microsoft rep had me plug directly in the wall and the system boots normal. I previously had the Xbox One S plug into the monster surge protector strip with my TV. That was the problem. Microsoft rep told me that the Xbox Box One S has a built in surge protector.
I going to use the Xbox One S today and if the problem does not return I will keep the Xbox One S. The Microsoft rep told me to exchange if the problem does return. Thank you for the help.
