    I keep getting “You started playing somewhere else”


    i’ve been trying to open my games and this message pops up. i’ve already powered it off a few times and even reset it while keeping my apps and games, nothing. i changed my password and put a pin, nothing. i don’t even know what to do anymore. it’s annoying. i even logged out every device my account was on but my xbox, still nothing. i give up

    I did see you mention that but logging everyone out doesn't work for the Xbox One and Series consoles so it could still be possible that they are logged in which is why I recommended checking friends and family just in case.

    Hello Symster, sorry to hear you're having trouble.

    I see the steps you've already tried and they should take effect when the other place that's playing logs out. However, in the meantime you may want to consider if it may be someone you know. For example, if you were at a friend or relative's place in the past and logged in on a different device.

    Would you mind giving this a try?

    1. Remove your account from the console:

    • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

    • Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

    • Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

    • When you're finished, select Close.

    2. ​Power cycle your console:

    • Press and hold the Xbox button on your console for 10 seconds, until it shuts down.

    • Unplug the power cord from your console for 5 minute (If you have an Original Xbox One, unplug the power supply from both the outlet and the console)

    • Plug everything back together.

    3. Restart your internet connection

    4. Turn your console on.

    5. Sign in to your account again.
