@ LostKauz = I love the game Aliens Colonial Marines because it is so much fun and it has been the best Alien game that I have played

As a habbit, I almost always have my motion tracker active in Aliens Colonial Marines and If I go back to playing Alien Isolation again, I'm going to need to keep it (the motion tracker) away.

@ Genchy = I had absolutely no problems at all with my music active nor did I die even once. Then, all of this changed abruptly when I entered a 6 hour death-fest. I wasn't doing anything reckless at all. My music playing and I was crouch walking 90%
of the time. It took flocking forever to get anywhere when moving at the speed of a snail and dying a million times then having to repeat the process all over again at Snail Speed didn't help things either

I had no idea that the Alien was alerted to my presence because it heard my motion tracker until " LostKauz " told me about it.

@ brandiesel1 = The only way that I will know the effectiveness of the Flame Thrower is to play the game again. The question looming around right now is will I even bother playing the game again 2 weeks from now.

Ok fair enough, you didn't die, but I reckon you would have had more of a sense of the audible clues the Xeno gives which enable you to avoid detection by it if you hadn't spent the time before that playing your own soundtrack. I cant remember dyeing much
during that section to be honest, its not like its uber nails compared to the rest of the game..

 

if you want to play an infuriatingly good game then come back and tell me when you've completed super meat boy

I have to agree with everyone above. It seems to be a two part problem. You're playing it on the Xbox 360, first bad move. You're also playing with Music in the background.

Alien Isolation is not a Game to "entertain" with being distracted by other things going on. It is meant to show how much of a killing machine the Xeno really should be. Your roll or "job" as the Player is not just to be a "survivor" but too beat one of the
most deadly killing machines to grace Video Games and Movie Cinema.

I would say get the Xbox One version. Play in a dark room with a good sound system while alone, no distractions. Only then can a person truly appreciate all of the subtle details that are both Audio and Visual that makes Alien Isolation an incredible Game.

What audible clues are you talking about?

I didn't notice any audio indicators that the Alien was nearby.

I got through that super duper mega annoying section by having a visual confirmation on the Alien's where abouts and by using my motion tracker when it was out of sight.

The visual acquisition and motion tracker technique works extremely well in Aliens Colonial Marines

The Audio clues that people are referring to would be the subtle noises coming from background. Some are the Alien a few feet away from you (usually behind you but can be in front) and/ or the creaking station. You'll lean the
difference between all of them with practice and no distractions.

Some basics can be- A "hiss" can be either the Alien or background (you learn to tell the difference between the two). The Alien "thump" as it drops down from a ceiling vent. If you hear the "thump" it is right there near-by. Metal scratching or "scampering"
behind a wall, ceiling or floor can be or may not be the Alien.

Lots of sounds jam packed. Music playing in the background will destroy all of this and get you killed by the Alien repeatedly.

In fairness this game has a bigger importance on sound than any other game I've ever played. It's top notch in my opinion.

When I'm not listening to my own music, I do recognize and acknowledge that the sound work of this game is top notch indeed

So, let me get this straight...

(1) I need to learn ALL of these audio warnings that the Alien is nearby in order to survive.

(2) The motion tracker is a useless piece of cow patty that only ends up getting me killed.

(3) Amanda Ripley's arsenal CANNOT kill this " 1 " Alien that is relentlessly stalking her.

Pretty much though the motion tracker can come in handy especially when the alien isn't around because it will still show you where the androids are. It's good to hide from them as well because they are tough.

Can I walk at full speed (not crouch walk) and not attract the Alien?

When the Alien is far away and I purposely fire in a room to get its attention, can I walk at full speed (not crouch walk) on the parallel path that the Alien is using (it didn't see me) without being detected while the Xenomorph explores that area where
the Pistol was fired?

Does the Alien hear the locker / whatever door slamming shot when you hide in it?

When the Alien triggers a placed Smoke Bomb, is its vision impeded while inside the smoke?

Does exiting the Locker / whatever alert the Alien to my presence? This process sounds noisy

I've actually thought many of those and I'm not sure. I just played assuming it heard all of those noises. As smart as the AI is in this game I wouldn't doubt it.

 

Lei Fang why are you firing guns unnecessarily, that's asking for trouble, stealth is your best option, theres a part towards the end where I found flare distractions handy but to reveal would be a spoiler, prior to that I never used any form of distraction,
the thing is just to smart. Forget all notions of killing it, its not happening....Anything other than crouch walking is going to be more audible to the Xeno. Remember your Lei Fang not Xeno Warrior Princess. (see what I did there older forum folk!!)
