I have Xbox live gold but it's saying I don't.

please double check http://account.microsoft.com/services to see if the subscription is showing there.

If the subscription shows, try the following steps

Remove profile from the console (Make sure you know the account credentials for the account, since you will need them later)

Perform the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds before powering on again:

Redownload your profile

If these steps fail, then its best to contact Xbox Support (via Phone or Microsoft Support Chat) at

http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

Let us know the results

Check your subscription if it is all good from this page: https://account.microsoft.com/services

If it is, you may need to contact official Xbox Support to further check your account: http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

Usually in a scenario like this removing you account, power cycle and then re-adding it, resolves this issue.
