I have the new dashboard update but still the old icons on the guide like the trophy

OK, I just installed an old Xbox 360 game, accessed the Xbox 360 guide, and no messages were shown (even old threads). I left the game and unsurprisingly still saw that little "1" next to the Messages icon in the Xbox One dashboard.

Indeed. I've seen a lot of people over the years sign up to gain access to some newly reported feature, then complain when x y or z goes wrong, and it's all Microsofts fault, never theirs, for not reading up on the program first.

That's awesome, but is not always the case, which is why they run such programs, in order to have live data in a variety of situations and uses.

I'm just pointing out that the program isn't for everyone, especially if it's your main, or only console, and also if you're not particularly tech savvy, and signing up just to gain early access to features(that may not function ad intended) isn't advisable

Exactly. As an example from a couple years ago, there was a preview update that unintentionally factory reset consoles.

The Insider program is for those that don't mind dealing with the occasional bugs and glitches that inevitably come from testing UI updates. I've been in the program from the beginning, and thankful nothing major has happened to me yet. However, I have experienced
quite a few random crashes and freeze that require hard resets in order to make my console usable until they put out a fix.

I don’t think it has anything to do with being in the Xbox Insider program. I am an Xbox Insider but I have chosen not to be part of the system updates and mine was updated. I believe this dashboard redesign was released to the general public.

It could be that it was phase released, so rather than dump it on every Xbox around the world at once and overload the servers, Microsoft are doing it in batches. It is a plausible reason and if you are encountering no issues or error codes, you could wait.

You could try resting your console to factory defaults but make sure you choose the Reset and keep my games
& apps. You may loose any saved data, files and anything not synced to the cloud but it could force the update to take place.
