    I have tested latency of Xbox series controller on two different laptops (one high end and other one is 10 years old). Why am I not getting the Microsoft advertised latency which is 4 ms for wired and 8 ms for wireless adapter.

    Both laptops that I tested on give very similar results:

    Testing softwares: X-input test (Github) and polling rate tester (Github / Gamepadla)

    Latency results:

    Xbox wireless adapter: 13-15 ms

    (13 ms on usb 3.0 port of Insprion 3542 running latest Windows 10 and

    15 ms on usb c 3.2 gen 2 port of Lenovo LOQ 15 APH8 2023 running latest Windows 11 24H2)

    Wired USB-C connection on both laptops: 7 ms

    What is causing all this delay? Here's what I have already tried:

    Clean Windows 11 reinstall.

    Device manager driver update, disable and re-enable.

    All drivers and Windows fully up to date.

    Tried turning off all wireless devices around it.

    Maintained clear line of sight of the dongle with the controller.

    I think it's because when you run the test it bounces ( probably a better way to describe it lol ) off a server in America so us in Europe get high latency ...

    Usually though the lower the latency number the better, when I last tested from the Xbox Dashboard mine was around 140ms, if I run a speed test from my laptop it's only 5ms which is ALOT better lol

    plugging my xbox upto my TiVo box

    Test through xbox comes back with 77.61 up 6.21 down with 130 Ms latency. Very different to the laptop results, that was in morning tho.

    I'm not very knowledgeable on pings and stuff but do you have a Laptop or PC available? Might be worth seeing what the latency is on a different device to know whether it's the network connection of the XB1 or whether it's the network itself

    I would suspect it is likely to be the network itself rather than your hardware. Is it impacting your gaming or is it just something you noticed? I only ask as high pings and latency don't always cause issues....my latency on PC, XB1 and Series X is around 150 and I have no issues

    The test on the xbox is apparently testing against a server in Seatle, USA which is why you are getting high latency.
