There's no need to deactivate Gold on your account so long as you designate your console as your home one and your child's account is also logged onto that XBox. See this article -

It's also worth noting that there's a whole number of things you can do to keep your child safe whilst playing XBox (https://beta.support.xbox.com/help/family-online-safety/browse)

You cannot undo that. But if you want your child to have Live Gold, you can set up your account as the My Home Xbox main one in his console, so he can use your Live Gold and available games!

Unfortunately, you can't transfer Gold memberships like that.

On the Xbox One the "Home Console" can share the Gold membership to other accounts on that very console, but the Xbox 360 console can't do that.

You need to either buy a separate Gold membership for your son via Prepaid Gold cards, or subscribe to the Gold membership with his account.

Did you redeem the code on the Xbox 360 console? If you did, I would suggest redeeming the code on your computer.

You can redeem all types of prepaid codes, including Xbox gift cards, Xbox Live gold cards, and Xbox Music Pass cards, on a computer and have them applied to your account immediately. Here’s how:

1. Go to www.xbox.com

2. Sign in

3. Go to the "Xbox Live Gold" tab and click "Redeem Code"

That's it! Your Gold membership will be applied instantly.
