    I have accidently redeemed an xBox gift card to Microsoft's Cayman Island's store, when I meant to redeem it to the US Store. I cannot buy games via the Cayman Island's store. How do I transfer the balance to the US store?

    Have you checked your Microsoft account to see if the balance is there? If the money has been applied to your account it should be there. The money isn't in the store it is in your account.

    The money is in my account - however under my account there are two stores listed - US and Cayman. Under the US store there is a balance of $5.03, while the $100 I’ve just redeemed is shown as being allocated to the Cayman Store. My Xbox is linked to the
    US store, not the Cayman one, so the only balance I have available to me is $5.03. If I switch to the Cayman store my $100 becomes available, but I cannot buy games!

    OMG - market fraud!! All I want to do is download a game for my 12 year old daughter to play while we are locked down due to COVID-19.

    The XBox is linked to the US store because when we bought it the two games we bought (as disks) needed to be updated before we could use them and the only way we could do so was by linking the device to the US Store - if you don’t believe me come down here
    and try for yourself.

    My daughter was sent two digital gift cards by relatives in the US - the first we redeemed via the device and had no problems using it - she loves dance and singing games so thats what that money was spent on.

    The second card remained in my inbox (I don’t want to encourage her to buy new games on a whim) but yesterday, as this lockdown continues, I decided to top up the account so that we can buy the Let’s Sing Song Pass - at the time my daughter was using the
    device to play Let’s Dance (one of the original 2 games we bought as disks), so I redeemed the card via my PC, not appreciating that that device was linked to the Cayman Store (through which I’ve never had a problem buying software)

    And there you have it, all laid bare - if I’ve been committing market fraud then that’s a screwed up situation to find myself in - and for the record the Cayman Islands are actually a dual currency country - the national currency may be the KYD but USD is
    also a legal currency that can be used freely.

    It looks like I’m screwed here. It looks as if I can’t transfer my money and it looks like I can’t download the game add-on because Microsoft won’t accept any form of alternative payment, and as we are in lockdown I can’t buy the disk locally, assuming that
    it is even available

    Meanwhile, do I now have remain on tender hooks that I may get a call from an over paid lawyer from Microsoft demanding that I pay them outrageous damages or face prosecution for downloading a game to keep my daughter entertained while we have nothing else
    to do?

    May I ask what your console was doing set to that region's market place? Do you live in the U.S. or in the Cayman Islands? As changing your the region/market on your console to specifically buy something without being there for an extended period of time
    or living there, could technically be considered a type of market fraud.

    Seeing as how the Cayman Islands and the U.S. use two different currency systems, a U.S. Xbox gift card shouldn't have applied money to your account in the first place as the USD to CID exchange rate is $1 to about $1.20, the best course of action would
    be to contact support over the matter... as requesting a refund to the gift card isn't possible, but then again transferring money to a different country's currency may also not be possible to get back what you initially paid for the gift card. I would contact

    Had you tried to simply switch your market/location setting on your console and then see how much money your console tells you is in your Microsoft Account? You can also view your account balance online at http://account.microsoft.com

    Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for clarity on redemption of a Microsoft gift card. I can totally understand how this could be pretty distressing but no, you will not be sued. The only thing that could possibly happen is somekind of ban and that would
    be more than likely if this sort of thing was a trend concerning your account. However, as it stands there is now way to convert MSA funds from one region/currency to another.

    As per our support page on gift cards and codes:

    "If you redeem a Microsoft or Xbox gift card in a country that doesn’t match the country associated with your billing account, you won’t be able to use those funds."
