I have gotten a ban because of a prank

I have been given a ban that I did nothing to deserve. My friends reported me as a prank and it ended up with me getting banned on Xbox live for a week. They regret doing it, and now we can't play together for a week. Can someone please do something about
this ban.

Are Microsofts ridiculous banning practices starting to harm the Xbox?

I've had Live for over a decade, and only have gotten a communications ban once, and that was because of that bug in Halo 4...

I have gotten a ban from playing mutiplayer online games

You can view your enforcement by logging into enforcement.xbox.com and filing a case review from there if the ban is eligible.

It is generally NOT a good idea to toy with the report system.

You will have to log on to http://enforcement.xbox.com, review your suspension details, and submit a case review (if eligible). The forums and Xbox Support do not handle matters related to suspensions, and the Enforcement

So the unknown user changed my gamertag using that free gamertag change I think that user might have had my account for a while or something and was waiting to change it possibly as a prank or something or may have gotten it today

That caller is a prank caller. He might be your "friend" or someone somehow got your cellphone number and prank called it saying you were going to be banned.

Like mentioned, you would be notified on the Xbox Console with a message popping up saying you were suspended, that is the only way.

You will be fine, even playing online. It's only when someone is playing a game a month early they are banned because then it is obviously because they pirated the game.

I have gotten and played games 2 or 3 days early and have never been banned.

For future reference, please don't abuse the report a player system to troll/prank somebody. As others have stated, it sounds like either you or your cousin have been given a communication ban.
