I have gold membership on my xbox 360,how do I get the membership transferred to my new xbox ...

When i setup the new xbox one I was given a new name that i don't want. I want the screen name i had on the 360. I tried to delete the name and add my 360 name but when i'm asked to sign in with my address and password it keeps changing to the name that
defaulted. when i made the xbox one "my home xbox" to go on gold it did not respond my old screen name was entered several times but will not be accepted on the xbox one when asked to log in it changes back to the new name that i don't want. I tried deleting
it until it showed on the screen but i couldn't sign in ,I had to default to the factory settings to reset the xbox, then the name i don't want was still there but was able to log on ,but still no gold!

My son has a gold membership on his 360. I don't have a gold membership. If I add my son's profile to my new Xbox One, then it will give me gold membership as well?

I don't have a 360 anymore, and don't have an Xbox One, but I would imagine that adding the account to console will automatically open up multiplayer to all users on the console.

Base from your description. The gamertag you're using from your 360 seems to be different when you try to sign that in on your xbox one. Well, what I can think of is you're signing in the wrong email on your xbox one that's why you where given a random gamertag
just like right now. If you can still sign in on your xbox 360 right now, you could actually check the correct email assigned to your xbox profile. That way, when you sign in on your xbox one, you will get the same gamertag/profile and your gold subscription.

 

to check the email on your account on the xbox 360 sign into your account and go to settings>profile>account security then on the right side it will say "current Microsoft account:<insert your email here>" if you are signed in with the same account on both
consoles you will have gold on both consoles as they use the same subscription. in fact on the xbox one if it is saved as your home console you can share your xbox live gold with anyone else on that console along with any of the games you have digitally purchased.
