    I have Gold live but cant play any MMO games


    I have an Xbox Gold Live membership that i pay for monthly and have been able to play online up until this weekend. Every time I try to play Roblox or Fortnite they both say i need a gold live membership. My account is in good standing and i have not been
    suspended. Why is this happening?

    I have Gold, but I cant play any games

    I was playing on xbox live two nights ago, yesterday I could no longer use gold features. I thought that it was because Xbox had a service issue but I tried again today and still the same issue. Whenever I try to play any game I am taken to a screen that
    tells me to buy Xbox Live Gold. I have a year membership and have tried re-downloading my account, hard resetting, uninstalling the game, and still nothing. I cant do anything even though I have paid for it.

    I also had game pass but let the subscription run out, wondering if this is part of the trouble since there is the game pass bug right now.

    Hey! So, I have an acctive xbox live gold subscription activated, but for some reason I cant play online it tells to buy xbox live gold - wich I have - but I can download the free monthly games, and play the others free games, I just cant play online, can

    Hi Trout.

    Welcome to the XBox Forums and the world of XBox.

    XBox LIVE is the service you pay for to play your games online.

    So an online game that requires a LIVE Gold subscription is nothing to be surprised about.

    An MMO is normally going to need you to have XBox LIVE because by it's nature it's an online game.

    I think "Final Fantasy XI" on the XBox 360 allowed you to play the game online without a Gold Subscription but it is a rare exception to the norm.

    Be careful about buying TESO. You'll pay full price for the game but only have the right to play it for 30 days. After that you have to keep throwing money at them or they shut your access down.

    As for needing Gold to play TESO online... it's on XBox LIVE.

    No-brainer really.

    MMOs are a service separate from Xbox live AZ, so it does make sense that they should be separate from the Gold paygate. You're paying a subscription for the MMO's upkeep and to sustain regular content updates.

    As far as I'm aware Live isn't even involved in any part of the MMO's net framework.

    Also, FFXI and Phantasy Star Universe didn't need a gold subscription to play. FFXIV didn't make it to Xbox because MS wanted to introduce the gold paywall then, on top of the sub you'd be paying Square.

    What a hostile policy to demand Gold to play our own games! What's next? PS4/5 & PSN maybe for me.

    You only need gold to play online multiplayer part of a game or if it's an mmo like Neverwinter or Star Trek Online.

    Any xbox one games with gold game you download also needs gold to play.

    My 2nd account doesn't have gold & plays games perfectly fine.

    Can I play Division without Gold account?

    The Division is an MMO type game. As such you would need to have a Gold membership to get the full enjoyment of the game.
    What is MMO?
