I have Game Pass Core but can't play online

You can't. Game Pass Core (formerly Gold) or Ultimate (which includes Core) are required to play online with the exception of free-to-play games.

I thought of a few things you could try.

1. Check your Game Pass status in Settings > Account > Subscriptions to make sure it's active.

2. Remove and re-add your account: Go to Settings > Account > Remove accounts, restart, and then sign in again.

3. Clear your alternate MAC address: Go to Settings > Network > Advanced settings > Alternate MAC address and select Clear and restart.

Which Game Pass do you have? If you have Game Pass for console, you won't be able to play online. You need Game Pass Core or Game Pass Ultimate (which includes both Core and standard Game Pass) in order to be able to play online.
