I have an expired email address and cannot access the Xbox account to change to new email...

Hi there Mason! Christopher here, an Xbox fan and been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. You need to create another account. Once you make the account, you should use the new account to login and select “forgot password.”

Choosing the “forgot password” option will send you a link to fill out some questions and information so Microsoft can verify that is your account, then you need to wait for Microsoft to contact you for more assistance and the recover your account!

Maybe I'm not being clear or I'm not understanding the instructions. I have an email address associated to my xbox account that was set up automatically when I set up the xbox. I cannot access this email address, it doesn't have a microsoft account allocated
to it as far as I can see. I want to remove that email address from xbox and assign my new fully functioning microsoft email account to to the xbox account. I do not care if the existing email address disappears as long as my existing profile moves to the
new address and I can for example, receive email notifications.

I am not changing anything on a microsoft account, I am trying to swap out an email address.

I would change the email address to,or at least the password to access the email address.

Yes. That's what I was meaning to. The hacker changed and replaced your account's email address to his own email that's why you cannot access it with your own email address. So basically, your Microsoft/Xbox account has now a different primary email address which is used to sign in or login to the account - that's the email that you must find out to start the recovery process.

Given that your previous email address is a 3rd party email, I believe you still have access to its mailbox. It's the one I was referring above for you to check for any confirmation email regarding your account information change.
