I have an embarrassing question. ><

...and a story to tell.

So, I had a guest today and wanted to show her South Park: The Stick of Truth on my Xbox 360. However, my brother recommended that we move my console into the den where the Xbox One was located because he believed that the game would look better in
there. Normally, when we do this, he hooks the Xbox 360 to the TV. Well, I remembered that we could use the pass-through on the Xbox One with the Xbox 360 and wanted to try it out. After about 20 minutes of navigating the jumble of multimedia cables we have
in that room and accidentally shutting off the power to everything not once, but twice (accidentally unplugged the battery backup that everything was plugged into on the 1st incident and had a cable hit the power switch on the battery backup on the 2nd incident),
getting through a dysfunctional TV and audio setup that reversed itself upon the hard-resets (when the console goes on, they would turn off and vice-versa), and upon discovering and removing an HDMI cable that was plugged into the back of the Xbox One console
and that lead to the TV that did absolutely nothing, we finally got everything working properly. Well, almost anyways. My guest then proceeded to retrieve her profile, but couldn't because the Xbox 360 wasn't connected to the Internet. With no wireless adapter
to plug into the back of the Xbox 360 and the network hub across the house with no cable long enough to reach it, we had to disconnect everything, take it back into my bedroom, hook it back up in order to get it back online so she could retrieve her profile
and unlock her own achievements as well as save her own progress in the game, disconnect it again, return it to the den, and reconnect everything yet again. Finally she got to play the game...

She loved it - except for the part where she couldn't actually change the gender of her character to be a girl, despite looking like one. "That's sexist!" she said.

"That's South Park!" I replied. She relented, continued playing, and eventually went home for the evening.

In any case, I could probably figure it out on my own, but I'm too tired to check it out for myself after everything that's happened and would just rather ask you guys instead, regardless of the fact that it's kind of embarrassing and should be something
I should already know, so without further ado, here's my question:

When you turn off your console and put it into a low-power state, does it also turn off any devices that are also connected to the HDMI pass-through (in this case, my Xbox 360) or is it just limited to the TV, cable box, and audio
setup?

I certainly hope you enjoyed my entertaining yet frustrating story - it was a heck of an experience.

P.S. - In other news, my brother recently ordered a new stand for the Xbox One's Kinect sensor so we can put it above the TV, rather than underneath it. This should help us out with the Kinect sensor not being able to hear us a lot of the time (although it
still works about 80% of the time). In addition, we're planning on going out sometime after Easter weekend to purchase a new entertainment center to place everything on as well as some new Ethernet or DSL cables in order to keep the Xbox 360 in the den WITH
an Internet connection. Actually, I should ask - does someone still sell those wireless adapters for the Xbox 360 (the newer one with two antennas)? Regardless of whether we go with the cables or the wireless adapter, this basically means I will be able to
use the pass-through to switch between consoles on the fly and still be able to use Kinect-based features such as the "Xbox, go home" voice command all in one room, which is going to great (we don't have a cable box to watch TV anyways, so we might as well
use the pass-through for something).

my tabs work 100% of the time, so does holding the middle button down for a few seconds to turn the xbox off and on...another point why you saying the kinect isnt useless is just your opinion and to us that dont use it for gaming nor to navigate already
easy to navigate menus its a fact that its useless.

 

The answer is simple. Try it. If you say xbox turn off and it turns off your 360 as well, then hey presto it works. If your 360 stays on then you guessed it. It doesn't work. Simple.

Dufful, the whole point of this thread was so I wouldn't have to try it - that means I have to figure out the whole system again because it's all out of whack turning things on and off at when it's not supposed to (which also defeats the ability to figure
it out).
