I bought my xbox on my deployment to the middle east so when I hooked it up over there had to use pay pal because my card didn't work but now a year later Xbox won't let me pay for my subscription I even bought a refill card and it won't let me renew because
of my subscription in another region

I've included a link below that may help you resolve this issue. First, check the region settings on your Xbox are correct or have been changed from the Middle East to where you are located now. Then try to renew the subscription. If it still does not
work, you will have to cancel the gold subscription you currently have, and once your region is changed (or already changed) you should be able to purchase a new gold membership.

I had a similar problem with my Game Pass Ultimate subscription, I am part of the Preview Program and as an Xbox Insider I was able to test the subscription from May. The problem is that I am in Italy and my subscription turned out to be USA. I contacted
the support, explained my situation and the operator converted my subscription. After that I was able to redeem an ITA / EUR code that did not work before.

Others have already posted links to help you change your region, just check that all your information is correct and up to date on the account that you are experiencing these issues with.

It may take a few days for the system to fully update as well.

Microsoft changed the way subscription works, now to purchase a subscription from a region is necessary yes or yes have a payment method physically issued and billed in the same region

For example, your Microsoft account region is United States, your payment method needs to be issued on United States too

If you have an existing subscription, you need to double check the region for that subscription (in case you acquire it using a third party seller / website)

International cards doesn't work

Please note that this can't be bypassed
