I have a game disc, but I have to play a trial, and that trial is expired!

I have a disc game on Xbox (Watch Dogs 2), and when I insert the disc, the little disc icon appears at the top right of the game icon, indicating that the disc is in the console. When I click on the game, I receive a message telling me to enjoy my
trial, even when I have the disc in the console. Now, once I click “play trial,” the game loads as it usually would. Then, I get to the game’s startup screen, I click continue. It brings me to a page that tells me about how my 3 hour trial has expired. On
this page, it also says that I’ve completed 82% of the operations. So, for a recap, the console knows that I have the game disc in, it’s telling me that I have an expired trail, and it already knows that I’ve played the game before. I’ve tried completely resetting
my console, removing and re-adding my account, deleting and reinstalling the game twice, hiding the game from my “full library” list, but nothing seems to work. I’ve had this issue for quite some time now, so I’d really appreciate some help.

Have you tried deleting the save data? Hopefully it dosen't have to come to that but if everything else won't help you may have to do it.

Thanks for reaching out to the Forums for advice on what to do in this situation. I can totally understand how strange and frustrating a problem this could be. I suggest uninstalling the game (no disc in console), resetting the console keeping your
games & apps, then reinstalling the game through the disc.

When you get the chance, give that a shot and let us know if that helped.

No problem. You will just have to use the disc after your Game Pass trial expires.

My idea worked! I installed the trial version (so glad that was available!) and it no longer says 'Trial Version will expire soon' when I start the game, but continues working from the disc. To make sure, I ejected the disc, tried to run the trial, it said it was expired, but when I put in the disc, it started up right away.

What a ridiculous adventure this has been, but I'm just glad it's over and I can enjoy this amazing game. Thanks for all the suggestions made, no matter the outcome. Really appreciated that.

You won't have any problems once your game pass trial expires, just be sure to have the disc in the console when you want to play, and while you have game pass, you don't need to put the disc in the console to play, since you can play it digitally via
game pass.
