I have a communication issue from xbox power up using the wired connection (only)

My IP provider sent me a new TP link modem which is running all devices perfectly wired and not wired.

However, my Xbox will not sign into the Xbox Live on power up only. For clarity, if I reset the xbox right away it will sign into the network right away which leads me to believe I have a communication issue from xbox power up using the wired connection on the xbox ONLY.

However, if I leave it and walk away from start it will sign itself in over a 20 minute time period.

The actions I have taken are:

soft reset the xbox

cleared the cache

established a wireless connection

reset my new modem

enabled upnp

entered the DMZ code for the xbox

turned off the modems firewalls

tried all ports on the modem

tried new cables on the modem

used the same and different ports on cables with a sony (works right away)

used the same and different ports on cables with an iMac (works right away)

Removed the new modem and used my old one with same and new cables and all ports (Xbox works right away).

I do not have internet drop outs or any fail safe measures taken by my Ip provide to ensure I don't drop out on their end either.

There are no internet connection drop outs.

I have worked with my IP provider and have run all settings and confirm the internet is fine however, if I plug in my old modem the xbox signs in on first go with no issues. Essentially and currently, my xbox will not connect to xbox live and internet when I power up BUT if I reset it right away the connection is established immediately.

This one is a head scratcher because the xbox will work from reset and also using an old modem so I cannot determine where the error is occurring.

My internet provided informs me that I do not have a static IP address, is one required to complete the port forwarding setup ? I am now fearing I will not be able to even use the xbox.

This is a very interesting issue indeed. It seems you have done a lot of work to narrow down what may be causing this.

Based on what you have provided, it would seem that there is some setting in the new router that is causing the delay to login. So, one thing I want to verify though, if you attempt to login to the Xbox network immediately after reboot, does it take or is there a soft lock of 20 minutes or so for it to accept your connection?

Also, have you attempted this with the alternate Xbox power mode? There are two modes for the system, Instant on and Energy Saving. I would recommend flipping modes from which ever one you're on and attempt to see if it helps the issue. You can learn about the modes here as well as how to switch them.

The other option is to check what security protocols your new modem offers and see if you can enable other options. Primarily we are looking for an IPv6 mode if it isn't already enabled. You can learn about IPv6 here. Please keep in mind that this is a bit of a long shot and just trying to think of items you haven't attempted yet.

Hi,

Login after reboot is immediate no delay.

Yesterday I thought I solved it by port forwarding as everything worked immediately upon launch etc. However I have come home today turned it on and same issue.

In that being said I am learning how to port forward, all I have done so far is add ports to the router I have not done anything on the Xbox as such. Unsure if I need to ?

I have not tried alternate start up modes.

I could try turning on IPV6 I know it is on with my provider.

Any ideas ?

I simply went back to my previous modem as my provider did not give me a static IP which means I could not complete the port forward process.

The old modem works fine

So I would try the static IP address solution, if you have done port forwarding then this is easier. This is usually designated in the admin portal of your router.

I would also try the alternate power modes as well as well as the IPv6 option, again it is enabled usually in your router admin portal.

Let me know what you find out if they work.
