I Have a child account- how do I get Cross play/ Cross platform play to work?

I have a Xbox one console, on this I play Fortnite- I have some friends that have other platforms or use PC. I cannot connect to them in the Fortnite game and play with/against them. The Fortnite/ Epic Games suport claims this have to do with my account
being a Child account. My parents are fine with me playing in the cross platform comunity- how du we enable this function och the Console? We have tried with my fathers account (the parental account to mine account)- there its no problem to connect with and
play with other platforms...

Fortnite Cross platform

When I go to play Fortnite cross platform on Xbox it brings up an error message that I cannot join the cross platform party. When I go into settings in Fortnite to change the option to allow cross platform parties, it does not appear. I am able to play
cross platform parties when on a computer. From what I have seen on the internet, the Xbox account has to be an adult account, but I cannot figure out how to promote a child account to an adult account.

Would you be able to help? I have 2 kids on my Microsoft family accound both have child accounts, but only 1 account seems to have the cross platform enabled? how do I change this on both accounts so they can play cross platform with all their friends and
togeather?

As of right now Cross platform play with child accounts is not working the xbox team is looking into this to get it working. See the replies to this other thread.

If you are under the age of 13, there are issues with getting Cross Platform Play to work, as the necessary option will not appear for accounts that are under the age of 13.

This is an issue with the Epic account, and some child protection laws, that prohibit companies from collecting personal data from kids under the age of 13.

Please contact the Epic Games support for further steps.

While your parents can try to go to
Microsoft account | Your family and add your child account to their adult family account, and make the necessary changes on
Sign in to your Microsoft account to allow you to play (other) games for older kids/adults, the cross play feature is an issue with Epic Games, and you need to talk to their support
for that issue.

 

MS are aware of the cross platform bug and are working on it, please check the title below for updates, apologies its not clickable as this forum one let me paste cross links to other posts

Sorry for the inconvenience. Gaming on a computer or PC has different advantages than a gaming console and all child
accounts have been set up with maximum security to protect our younger customers while they game online.



All Microsoft accounts that are adult accounts should be eligible for cross play. The only accounts that have restrictions
are the Microsoft child accounts. This is not a bug, Microsoft intentionally set up this barrier for many reasons and plan on releasing a solution to change that option soon. We do not have an estimated time frame on this issue at the moment. As soon as we
find out more information; we will update everyone on the forums about this
issue. Keep an eye out for our response as we are diligently working on allowing parent accounts to manage cross platform play in the parental settings.
