We understand that you are trying to spend your $10 from your Microsoft account. You may use that money if you are on the same locale (region/country) of that currency. Otherwise, features, games and add-ons that is region specific may not work and be useful for you when you are far from the place the currency of you Microsoft money is originated. The money currency should at least match to your current location.

If you are in UK, you may add money on your Microsoft account or ask your parents to add your money the same currency in UK. The UK currency then, will not be consumed in US. The same way US Dollar cannot be consumable on UK.

your Microsoft account if you’re moving to a new country or region.

The store in your region accepts only the currency of your region.

I dont think you can. With me it always puts it to GBP instead of USD whenever something is in dollars.
