I hate the new Xbox controllers

By new I mean all of them from the 360 on. I'm OK with everyone thinking I'm just some whiny [mod removed], but my hands and brain can't let go of (in their thinking) the conformation perfection of the 2001 Xbox controller. The dimensions and layout of it was ideal for somewhat larger hands. The Back/OPSAT, Start/Pause, the White/Inventory and Black/Whistle buttons were set perfectly out of the way preventing accidental activations.

For the life of me I can't recall ever pushing the wrong buttons. With the Series X controller however, I average 20+ snapshots per mission, playing the Splinter Cell games. A true [mod removed] When recording gameplay. It would have been nice if MS could have developed a disable (Screenshot) function while allowing one to record gameplay to the external drive.

I bought the Duke because it moved the buttons away from the center of the controller, but they moved the White/Black button above the Y,B,X,A, buttons then altered the Y,B,X,A, buttons to a narrow diamond shape. They changed the original shape of the controller to a sort of wedge then made the underside of the controller as slippery as an eel, the thing keeps sliding out of my hands during the dry winter while reclining in the easy chair. I ended up buying some velcro patches to see if I could get the thing to stay still. I'm hoping I can eventually get used to the Duke's layout but wish someone would bring back the 2001 Xbox controller.

Thanks for responding without negativity. As for the shoulder buttons/White/Black from the 2001, (regarding splinter cell games) I rarely use them the way I play, (Ghost/minimalist MO) I rarely ever use weapons or whistle. As for the 3 buttons between the towers, I mentioned large hands, most times the error occurs when saving or loading, thumb can't help grazing the snapshot button. I honestly don't believe remapping the buttons would solve my issue unless MS added disable to snapshot while still being able to record to the external drive.

Lately our dog Maisy heads for the other end of the house whenever I begin dragging the chair up to the TV, I'm sure I'll have to close all windows during summer gaming or wear a ball gag to prevent the neighbors from calling the police.

Thanks for the response, but the only thing that'll work for me is if some company gets the rights to reconfigure the Series X console's controller to the 2001 version.

I agree with you that it was a great controller but you probably would be better with a elite controller, that way you can map the buttons according to your needs and the back paddles will be easy for you to not miss any button

Not surprised. One of the things I remember hearing from most of the others I knew that had a 2001 X or played on one was that they didn't like the 2001 controller. They were in love with the smaller PS 1 controller, which was too small for me. Small hands don't like the bigger wider OG controller. I'm thinking it likely was the reason the design was changed for the next iteration X.

Anyway, I got the thin fuzzy side of self-stick Velcro onto the bottom 2 grips of the duke controller this eve, definite improvement, almost as good as the imbedded crosshatch etching of the current X controller.
