I had an account on my old xbox 360 (gamertag), the gamertag is linked to an email that is not Microsoft when i first got that gamertag you could do it with any email, now that i want it back i cant because the email is not a microsoft account, my gamertag
is STAR74MARS and i want to use it and get my friends back.

This is an account I had a few years ago with my Xbox 360. I have a new account now on my Xbox One () and I want to get back my old account.

Account/Gamertag Issue - Please Help!

I've got myself in a bit of a mess with my account and looking for help please.

I created a gamertag when I first got an Xbox 360 many years ago. Then for some reason when I got my Xbox One I created a new account with a new gamertag.

Now I want to go back to my old account and gamertag (just because I want the old gamertag back) and I don't know what my options are.

Is there any way the old account can be deleted so that my old gamertag becomes free again? Trouble is on my new account I have paid purchases and a 15 month Xbox Live subscription that I'm not prepared to lose.

Or, if I was to buy a gamertag change on the OLD account, would that 'free up' my old gamertag so that I can change my gamertag on my NEW account back to what it was?

Gamertags cannot be transfered to other accounts, but you can migrate a 360 account to an xbox 1 one .

There's no way to know exactly how inactive an account is. It's possible their signing into their account on other Microsoft services which would keep it open.

I guess that's true. But he still only used the account to mod on black ops 2, he's either trying to sell the xbox tag or do something else with it.

I know back in 2016 there was one but i didn't have an xbox then. wondering if there would be another one soon. Because i want my old gamertag back when I use to play 360. I lost that account around 2011 . I cant remember email or anything , just
the gamertag I had.

But the gamertag that I want to change is my old gamertag. I change my old gamertag on 2 August 2020. I used that old gamertag when I create my Xbox account. At that time, the system allow me to use that gamertag. But when I want to change it back, the system don't allow me to use it. Why is this like that?
