at 20% you can make a chracter and do a tutorial IIRC. mine was preloaded. also pro tip. you can pre order a digital game from smartglass app, the web, or the xbox one and it'll install and be ready to go. also i'm PST so SO unlocked at about 902 for me
and i took about 2 mins to download the update (311mb) and i was in the game before 9:05 which is much better then the old going to a store at midnight, waiting inline etc etc

Wait, you got into the game that quick? Is your internet super fast or something? Maybe my internet really is bad compared to some people's, lol.

It's past that by now, it should be around 50% or so.

Can I turn the Xbox One off and have it install the rest digitally and then play tomorrow?

 

i already had it downloaded weeks before it was released. I know you didn't have that option on SO, but just a heads up you can do that in the future and it unlocks at midnight EST to play my internet isn't very good. only like 20 down and 4 up at my
xbox.

Also if you have it in instant on mode, you can turn it off and it downloads overnight

 

Pro-tip: Doing a hard reset (holding down the power button for 10 seconds) will fix just about any issue you have with the console... aside from a slow download. Handy to know, for the future.

If I buy something digitally, I usually use the web-store while at work. By the time I get home, it's already downloaded and installed. (I still prefer a disc, though, if one's available)

Disc games are slow to install too because blu-ray reads slow. I pre order and pre download my game if there is the option to do so. I hope you enjoy your new console.

...FYI... for both PS4 and XB1, physical discs have to be loaded onto the Hard-Drive... so, you still have to sit and wait for the games to load. Sure, you will save a little bit of time since you are loading from a physical disc and not from the 'net...
but really, not that much as both Blu-ray players are fairly slow.

I have gone all digital this generation, and I love it. The other day I was sitting on the couch and played NBA2k15, said "Xbox play Forza Horizon 2" and raced a couple of races, wife came upstairs and I said, "Xbox Watch TV", and a little while longer
I said, "Xbox, goto Netflix".

Never once picked up a remote, never once switched discs.... it was almost like being on the Enterprise

 

Yeah PS4 installs are very quick. You pop the disc in, wait a few seconds, then you're good to go. I was very shocked and disgusted when I got the X1 and I had to wait to install a game. But it's never taken me longer than 15 minutes to install a game from
disc. Digitally, it takes no more than 30 minutes to download and install.

OP, what you're probably experiencing is the patches being downloaded and installed as well, not just the game itself. A fix around this would be to disconnect from the Internet and install the game.

 

I'm trying not to be judgemental here. Basically from what I can gather, you've had the Xbox long enough to install the initial update and start downloading a game. You've had no actual game time or anything so you come on here and start an impressions thread.
So what's next? A review of sunset overdrive after getting into the menu screen?

 

I already called the OP out in his last thread here. He was also in the PS4 forums asking for advice, telling people he was buying a PS4 and looking to add friends.

Still a silver here, no games played on One or his games are hidden?.....who knows what he is doing.

 

Yeh it's nice to see that I come back to the forums after a big break and nothing has changed.

 

I usually on average wait for an hour or less for digital dl of games and HDD dl of games about 35 minutes.

 

People are "shocked and disgusted" cos they have to wait a while for a game to install?? WTF!!
