okay it's been 4months since I got banned I got banned from a mistake my friend gave me his account to gameshare with his gamertag is Snapchat lit of course to gameshare I would make the account my home Xbox and from what Microsoft support told me they said
that if he has five enforcements and I had his account as my home Xbox that's why I got banned but they said that I would have to come here to get it lifted or something at first I didn't know how it got banned until I call Microsoft and gave them my console

Halo 4 Online Banned?

Hello. This is ViperishPlane3. I have problems regarding Halo 4 online; why I'm banned? One possible chance that I know that why I might have been banned is because I kept going in and out of the server games. But the thing is that I never got banned until
today. So if you could please help and explain what I can do to not get banned and/or un-ban myself from this mistake? Thanks!

The enforcement team does not use the forums. You would need to try submitting a case review at
http://enforcement.xbox.com It is a violation of the code of conduct to share account information, so even if your friend had enforcements on his account, you still violated the code of conduct as well.

umm no actually it's not against the code of conduct to share accounts that's the whole point of them having gameshareing

Setting another person's console as your Home console is not necessarily a violation, but sharing your account information is.

Also, the Home setting is really only meant to be used to share games with other people playing on your own console. Using it elsewhere can actually be considered marketplace theft.

There's no restriction on who you let use your Home Xbox console or which console you designate it to.

Marketplace theft would be something like sharing account credentials (like the sites that sell digital games by giving you the username and password to an account)

Marketplace theft includes exploiting any part of the system to gain access to content you haven't actually paid for. The Home setting has been sort of a grey area ever since it started, but it's also why it's got restrictions on how many times you can change
it. As far as I've seen, I haven't seen anyone banned for it on the One, but wouldn't be surprised if it became an issue in the future. On the 360 there were a lot of people who were banned for using the license transfer tool the same way.

There is no way to exploit the Home console feature. The term "Home" is simply the name of the feature and has no legal meaning nor bearing in location. I've been using the feature to share with my family ever since the launch of the Xbox One console. Its
usage parameters are outlined on one of the pages I linked above. Generally-speaking, people are only penalized for Marketplace Theft for extreme actions done outside of the normal framework of how their system operates, such as the example I mentioned previously.

No evidence exists that any punitive measures have been taken against people using the License Transfer feature on the Xbox 360. Their support page even details how to use it for sharing content on another person's console. I think the incident you are referencing
is directly correlated to people using legitimate and/or dummy accounts to distribute licensed digital content such as digital games and DLC to anyone and everyone.

Until Microsoft makes a public statement about it and begins taking action against people who do it, it's all just academic. You and I both know that Microsoft people, and very high-level people, are either in these forums or especially in the Xbox Reddit
subthread. They are are well aware of how the feature is being used and they choose to remain silent on it, both personally and as Microsoft representatives. Their original vision had a significant sharing component. They have stated a number of times since
that they'd like to see that implemented officially. I suspect that's why they haven't made any public statements on it. They also know that they have no reliable way to discern between two or more different use cases. They also know that it is a
draw for a subset of the user base and they will alienate a good part of it if they do try to lock it down. I wouldn't be surprised if Enforcement had been told to steer clear of those cases for that very reason. Microsoft knows they could settle this definitively
with a simple statement. The ramifications, though, are interesting on both the end-user and the publisher side so they're content, so far, for this to remain a grey area.
