i got a new 12 month gold membership code and it does not work

I already have the code I got it with my 12 month gold membership

i got a 12 month gold membership for christmas and just tried to redeem it and i got this ams code. it says i need to use another form of payment.

Just bought x box for my son, he got one month free gold membership with it, purchased 12 month gold membership in Sainsbury's this morning, he entered redeem code but its not showing up in account history or transaction history yet,

I have code for 3 months of ultimate which i haven't redeemed yet but will expire soon.

will i get 12+3 months?

I spoke to a xbox customer care over chat and he hold me that 12 month will be converted into xbox gold for 4 months plus 3 months of new code will be added. I did not like to reduce to 7 months worth of membership

I was reading in some articles and people said it will upgrade gold to 12 months as well but may be recently MS changed it terms. FYI, I have already availed 1 month 1$ offer in the past.

Having the same problem. Everything worked fine when I first set up the system. I activated a 12 month Gold membership with a prepaid card successfully,then found that MS had charged my account for a second membership. A call to support got that removed,but
they cancelled my prepaid membership in the process. They provided me with a new membership code,but now like everyone here,I get the same error message when I try to input the code,or try to purchase anything.
