I got a forced gamertag change for using my surname. Do I have to pay to change it?

My Gamertag was [ModRemoved] and was reported as offensive. I was given a forced gamertag change although NG is just my surname. If you find that offensive then I'm sorry but do I really have to pay $10.00 to change it to something else
other than ?

Gamertag

I was informed by a Xbox online support adviosur that I needed to bring a change of gamertag to the attention of the Enforcement Team?

I have changed my surname due to legal implications aand my gamertag contains my old surname, I wish to change this, However do not have the Microsoft points nor do I believe I should have to use them.

Can someone help?

Free gamertag change not working

I'm trying to change my gamertag but I'm being charged when I shouldn't be.

Every time my gamertag has been forced to change by Microsoft its allowed me to change it free of charge, however I tried to change it recently and I need to pay. The last time there was a forced change was over a year ago.

Is there any solution to this? Its annoying needing to pay £7.99 when my previous gamertag wasn't even worthy of a forced change.

You can try submitting a case review at
http://enforcement.xbox.com but if the enforcement team upholds their decision, then yes, you would need to pay to change your gamertag.

It doesn't say anything about a forced Gamertag change and it says I've already used my free change? Is there a way I can see my Gamertag change history?

However, if they didnt change it do anyone else have access to your account? Also, more than likely, you going have to pay that $10 fee for a gamertag name change.

Even with a forced change, you'd have to pay to change it. This wouldn't have been a forced gamertag change though.

It's not against the terms at all to have your surname in your gamertag any longer. But, if you'd like to get it changed, you will need to pay 800 Microsoft Points like everyone else.

The Xbox Policy Enforcement Team only issues forced Gamertag changes to Gamertags that violate the ToU and Code of Conduct. When a Forced Gamertag Change is issued, your Gamertag is converted to a randomly generated tag. I'd recommend just gathering up
the $9.99 and paying for a change, since your Gamertag does not seem to be in violation of the rules, and I do not foresee a Forced Gamertag Change being issued for it.
