I downloaded a game and when I start it up and turns black but I can still go to Xbox home

Could you try clearing your cache (support.xbox.com/.../clear-system-cache) three times in succession, then turn your console off and back on and try
again?

Hi there, I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but I always get a black screen on my Xbox. It will randomly happen when I'm scrolling through my Community Feed, or sometimes during a game, or sometimes when I'm browsing the Store. If I go on my Xbox 5 days
during any given week, I will get a black screen randomly at some point about 2 out of 5 of those days.

Like I said, I'm not sure if this is the same issue you're having, but what I do is simply press the Home buttton on the controller. Although the screen will be completely black, if I press the Home button, the side bar will still pop up on the left of the
screen. Then I can press Home and it will reload the Home screen fresh. The only bad thing is that if you're in the middle of a game, or in the middle of scrolling down on your Community Feed, this is like a complete refresh of the Home screen so you will
be kicked out of the game or your feed, or whatever you're doing. But, it enables you to start again at the Home screen, without having to actually turn off your Xbox and turn it back on again. I do hard resets every day on my console as well when I turn it
off, but these black screens still happen.

So I would suggest trying to press the Home button when it happens, and hopefully it will still pop the side menu up, and you can select Home from there. If this isn't the issue, and doesn't work, then I'm sorry about that and good luck with fixing the problem.
I just thought I would mention it as I have a "black screen" issue regurly myself and this is how I get around it.

I’m having same issue have done this twice now only thing that will show after the green start up screen is black

When I press and hold home on controller it takes me to a screen that says what do you want to do

Turn off controller

Turn off console

Or restart console

That is it other then that black screen

Have reset

And changed HDMI cable

Have held the bottoms down

Have unplugged

I have done steps exactly as you have said and still nothing but black screen out side of start up green screen with Xbox logo and when I press home on controller

Does every xbox needs a home gamertag? Do i need to create a 2nd gamer tag for my 2nd xbox? and use my main gamer tag as a 'family' gamertag on it? i have a tag for my wife, if needed i can make that the home one i guess. but she never plays.

here is what i am thinking...

take my main xbox to my vacation home, leave it there.

buy a new xbox when i return and set it up as home xbox.

going forward i won't buy and downloadable games, only discs.

next time i go to my vacation home, presumably when i turn on my xbox it will say that it is no longer my home console, but since i can still login and the downloaded games are already there, i can still play them (the internet is too slow for me to redownload
them). new games are not a problem as i will get discs because it is hopeless to try and download them anyways with the slow connection.

thoughts?

Same issues, the black out on start up has stopped now and the live TV is on start up but I have almost no control? Home button works but can't select anything, home button held down to shut down works and I can select, turn console off or turn controller
off???
