I understand your concern about being charged for any Xbox-related services. While I can’t say for certain why this happened, it’s possible that you have subscribed before and the recurring billing was still active then it got charged. We can actually try submitting a request for a refund. Do you have the order number for the recent charge on your subscription? If not, you can find it by visiting https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders. Once you’ve located it, please take note of the order number.

After obtaining the order number, you can submit a request for a refund through this link https://support.xbox.com/en-US/forms/request-a-.... Once the request has been submitted, Microsoft typically takes up to 72 hours to respond with the status of your refund.

I would cancel preorder and reorder you will not be charged twice you only get charged when it leaves warehouse so if you cancel it before it leaves your good and then reorder it again i know this because i had to do it.

You are correct, that deal should have applied instantly and given you Gold. It sounds like there was an error in the session. I would try applying for that promo again through that link.

If your membership did not process, which it hasn't since you are still silver it won't charge your card. Even when you sign up it won't charge your card until the free month has passed and the auto-renew kicks in (you can cancel auto-renew as soon as you sign
up for Gold). You can also double-check
commerce.microsoft.com just to confirm that the first promo membership did not go through and that your card won't be charged.

Please let us know if you're able to get that promo to go through on round two.

You will only be charged if you do not cancel after the free trial ends. So if you signed up on the 17th and cancel on the 16th of next month, you will NOT get charged. Very normal practice when offering a free trial.
