I could not redeem prepaid code, it says something went wrong!

Hi,

I have purchased a prepaid card at a gameshop yesterday, and I've been trying to redeem the code ever since then. It won't work.

I have tried to redeem it on my computer, in which I move my cursor to my account on top rught clicking that "Redeem Code." After going through the steps and putting the code in, the page shows:

Something went wrong
Sorry about that. Give it a try in a while.

So I decide to give a try on Xbox One.
I followed this page to redeem to my account:

And it also shows the same message as that on my PC.

Something wrong with this code?

It says that something went wrong and to try later. It happens from 3 hours now. Also Im getting it for the EA Access code.

I currently live in the Philippines. And sorry, can you elaborate "What region is your profile registered to? " You mean where I register my hotmail account?

Is your gamertag set to the same country as you live in. In other words, is your tag set for the Philippines as well?

You say the card is from the U.S. This is more than likely the issue. Because you live in a different country than where the card was purchased it may not work properly for you.

I am not sure if my gamertag is set to the same country as I live, I guess maybe not because my nationality is not Filipino; I will leave this country no later than next year. Do you know if there's a way to check where my gamertag is set?

Regarding the card, they have card for redeem of many versions: they have U.S. version, Chinese version and Korean version. I chose the U.S. version since my system is a U.S. version.

So are you saying in order to redeem the U.S. version to my account, I'd to live in U.S.?

Your tag would need to be set to the US but because you live in a region other than where you want to set you could have trouble downloading items due to your current IP address.

And, would you mind let me know how to know where I set my gamertag when applying? I wish to change it then! I really don't know much about hotmail account settings and such because I never used it; I'd to apply one hotmail account due to Xbox Live account!

Alright, first off I'm not sure how or if you can tell which country your gamertag is set to except to remember when you set up your gamertag. It has nothing to do with the Hotmail email address.

You could change your region to the US in order to use the code. However, this is not recommended as you would then have trouble purchasing or downloading items because you physically live in a different country. Also, when you change region you cannot
change it back for 3 months.

 

i'm also having the same problem trying to redeem a code, i spoke with someone in support and they said give it 24 hrs before the system can register the code and try again, i did and i still get the same error now. so did i pretty much throw away 25$ on
a useless code?

 

@NeomorphX - what do you mean you threw away $25 on a code? Did you purchase a code from someone online? If so, you may have to deal with them to find out what the issue is.

Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer. You could always gift the code to a friend you may have in the US or list it for sale on ebay or some other website.
