I can’t sign into Xbox Live on the backwards compatible games on Xbox One

Every time I try to open a Xbox 360 game on my Xbox One, I can’t play online with my friends. I try to connect to Xbox Live but it keeps telling me “Your console can’t connect to Xbox Live” and then asks me if I want to leave the game to test my network connection. I tried restarting my wifi, disconnecting from it which almost works but after 2 minutes it disconnects me from Xbox Live again, and I cleared my Xbox 360 save data on my Xbox One and it still gives me the same error. My friends can connect to Xbox Live with no problem though. So I don’t know what to do. It was working fine a couple weeks ago but now it isn’t working

Hi Doug! When you sign in to your new Xbox One S with the same Xbox Live account, there will be a "Ready to Install" section listing all games that you are able to install onto that Xbox. If your old games (Games with Gold or purchased) are backwards compatible,
they will show up there! Here is a list of current Backwards Compatible games https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility , and here is
the FAQ section for Backwards Compatibility as well https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility#faqSection

Hello Gamer! Backwards compatibility means the version before the current which for example if an Xbox 1 game is backwards compatible it can be played with Xbox 1 and Xbox 360. Which means a backwards compatible game for the Xbox 360 can’t be played with
an Xbox 1.

Games with Gold Titles Included in Backward Compatibility

When backward compatibility launches in November, all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be playable on Xbox One. That means Xbox Live Gold members now will get more free games to play each month on Xbox One.

Hi Poseidon,

Thanks for reaching out to us. You can sign in to your current account that you have for your Xbox One X when it brings up to sign in to your Xbox 360 account. Signing in to the account will work and it will allow you to play the game afterwards. Currently,
all it wants is for you to basically sign in once more through the '360 Dashboard' when playing a backwards compatible game on an Xbox One console.
