i cant send messages on my xbox

Have you checked your email, private messages, or enforcement history? It is possible that you have received a communications suspension. Post back after you check these things. If it is not a suspension, everyone will try to get things sorted out for you.

Sorry to hear that you're having this problem affect your ability to send messages.

I would suggest if you haven't yet, to try visiting our support page entitled
Why can't I send messages from my Xbox One or the Xbox app? and seeing if any of that helps.

When and if you get a chance, give that page a look through, those steps a try, and let us know how that helped out.

What happened? Have you tried resetting your console and then message the person?

Have you checked your Privacy settings? If that is set to Blocked then that may be why you can't send or receive any messages. Go to Settings \ Account \ Privacy & online safety \ Xbox Live privacy \ View details & customize \ Communication & multiplayer
\ Others can communicate... and change it from Blocked to Friends or Everyone.

If your account is a child account then you may need your parent to enable the settings appropriately for you.
