I can't send message to people not on my friend list

i cant send messages to anyone who is not on my friends list also whenever i try to it says "message can not be sent" anyone know how to fix this??

 

Method Blunt, when this fixed for you did you get a 24 hour message ban before it was fixed? If so, a fix has now been found and we can help out Varner. Varner, if this is the fix, I will run you through the steps on how to fix this.

I have the same problem, I just spoke to Microsoft support and they are apparently aware of this problem and are creating code to fix this problem, but they couldn't provide me with a time frame of when this update would be available, so until then.. We're
going to have to add the people we want to message (you can also send them messages if you just send them a friend request, they don't need to accept it) this is certainly a weird bug, I've been experiencing it for a few months now. It's annoying as I run
a battlefield 4 server, and I can never reply to the messages I receive from the players in there. Sucks :,(

 

this still isnt fixed for me everyone else has had their problems fixed why havnt i have my problems fixed?

 

Hi everyone. I am not exactly sure what fixed this for me but it could have been that a 24 hour block reset something for me. It may help getting a 24 hour block yourselves to try and resolve this issue. 24 hour blocks are not bans like communications bans.
So even if you get this block, it won't go on your record and you won't lose any privileges for getting this block such as Xbox live ambassadorship as these blocks are not enforcement action and is done automatically by the Xbox live system. In order to get
this block, you must exceed your daily limit of messages. The best way to do this it to go to your friends list and send party invites in quick succession to all your friends, perhaps multiple invites to each one as messaging would take too long. Party invites
are considered as messages in the Xbox live system. It is best to tell all your friends first so that they know what you are doing. Make sure you don't do this to the public or recent players. Once you get the block, your messaging situation will be the same
as with people not on your friends list except this time you will not be able to send messages even you keep spamming the send message button/invite to party button. You will now not be able to send messages or party invites for a 24 hour period to anybody
including your friends. Game invites, Friend requests, Party chat invites, Video Kinect invites and in game communications will still work though. Once the block is over, there will be no remaining effects of it. No points added to your account or anything
put on your record or reputation, it is just temporary. Hope this helps!

 

Hello. It looks like it's been a long time since there have been any posts to this thread but I just wanted to say I'm having the same problem. I'm not sure how long it has been an issue for me as I've never needed to message anyone who was not on my friends
list. Now that I need to, I see that I cannot do it. Is this an issue that customer support needs to correct? Trying to avoid the 24 hour message ban thing I'm reading about. It makes using the Destiny LFG sites a real pain.
