I can't seem to find a definitive answer about this anywhere...

I had given up worrying about this a while ago, but now I want to get it sorted out or know for sure if I am screwed. A while ago my LIVE account was hacked due to that infamous FIFA thing that people were doing. I was offline for almost a month while MS
investigated it. During that time, while offline, I unlocked two achievements. "A Monument to All Your Sins" for Halo Reach, and "Asari Ally" for Mass Effect. When MS finished investigating and contacted me and I recovered my account I noticed that those two
achievements were now gone.

I have heard everything from they are gone forever, to they are linked to the console my account was active on while they were achieved so I would need to login on that console(which means they are still gone forever), to I just redo them, to erase all my
game save data for that game to earn it again. Does anyone know? I wouldn't care about redoing Halo Reach to get it, but with Mass Effect I have like 7 different characters with varying decisions and I don't want to lose all those game saves because that is
my go to game when there is nothing else new I feel like playing. I tried once to get "Asari Ally" again but it didn't unlock, but that achievement is very buggy in the first place anyway so I have no idea if that was why it didn't unlock "again" or if it's
because of one of the other reasons I just listed.

Again, does anyone know exactly how this works? I've tried asking in the support forum and even on support chat but it's like they aren't even sure what I am really asking them and I get generic answers.

The error with your achievements could be a result of a "gamerscore mod" used by whomever obtained your account. Microsoft would have most likely repealed any changes the user made after acquiring your account. As a result you may never be able to attain
those achievements because there may be a glitch showing that you've already completed the parameters of the achievement. Again this is speculation and I in no way shape or form know exactly what went on during the investigation nor do I claim to.

 

The achievements vanished because when you recovered your profile the version you pulled from LIVE didn't know you had those achievements.

You'll be able to get the achievements again, so don't worry about that. In the case of the Asari ally achievement I can offer some advice. Make sure to do the bare minimum of quests needed to get off the Citadel and go to fetch Liara straight away.

With her in your party at all times, you'll have to do the bulk of quests on this list

Its nothing to do with a gamerscore mod,VOTEDC has the correct info.

 

The same thing happened to me awhile back, OP. I had unlocked achievements in Oblivion while offline, recovered my gamertag and lost all of those achievements. As voteDC mentioned, you can reacquire them by doing it all again. Pain in the butt, but it's
your only option.

 

Thanks for the responses guys. I guess I just got unlucky when I retried Asari Ally. I'll have to try it again.

Does anyone know if I would have to replay the entire Reach campaign on solo again for it to unlock again? I was wondering if maybe I could just reload the final checkpoint and play that section to trigger it since my game save shows that I already have
all sections completed on solo legendary.

 

I have tried again to get this "lost" achievement twice now and have not gotten it. I should have gotten it again by now and since I haven't it makes me think I really have been *** out of it due to the servers thinking I have it somehow or something. It
would REALLY be nice to know if I am shooting for a lost cause here.

The funny thing is, I just want this one 15pt achievement so I can have 100% for my favorite game. They can take back the 45pts from FIFA 12 the hacker added to my account.

 

Everything I've seen in the past says you can't get it.
